24.01.2022 More pics from a great day

22.01.2022 Goodbye 2020, the year that tested everyone with an ever changing environment. A challenge for everyone from World, Country and State leaders through to individ...uals facing the challenge of separation from the people that they love and the activities they have a passion for. Wishing everyone the best for 2021, may our activities increase, our families and friends get to see and hug each other and may we get to spread our wings safely. Happy new year may 2021 bring health and happiness to us all. See more

21.01.2022 Tonight was the time to celebrate the 2019 20 season such as it was. With a delayed end of season dinner due to COVID we were very proud to award the following awards. Coaches Award: Glen Wakefield Club person of the year: Ian Mourant. Most deserving recipients. Congratulations. We were also happy to present Level 3 sweep accreditation to Marianne Stevenson and Martin Turner.

20.01.2022 October already and although the weather forecast was not promising, we had a great session on water in warm conditions and only a couple of very brief showers. Great race practice for sweeps and paddlers. Looking forward to getting into our Summertime schedule.

20.01.2022 Unfortunately we will not be sending a Team to Pan Pacs this year. All the more incentive to get training hard once we return to paddling, ready for the next available competition

18.01.2022 No sooner do we finally get back to paddling and the weather turns bleak.

15.01.2022 PADDLING PARTNERS Derwent Storms Dragon Boat Club offers an opportunity for active men and women of all ages to compete in the same boat alongside their partners as part of a race crew. For those looking for a competitive, non-contact sport that is gentler on the joints, but still offers a good workout for the entire body, dragon boating ticks all boxes. Being the fastest growing water sport world-wide, it offers the opportunity to travel and paddle together, from intrastat...e and interstate regattas to world championships. Derwent Storms boasts 9 couples amongst its membership. From newer members, Glen and Julie ‘We were looking for something we could do together that we both enjoyed equally. We both have a love for being out on the water and Dragon Boating also keeps you in shape, is very social and you can commit to as much or as little as you like.’ Longer term members, Angie and Martin have represented Australia overseas as Auroras at the International Dragon Boat World Nation Championships on 2 occasions. Martin said the highlight for him was; ‘Winning gold in Thailand in the Mixed 10’s over 200m with my wife Angie in the same boat.’ Angie agreed and added: ‘The friendships and team bonding in the lead up and during the campaign, the sense of achievement, the feeling of 20 paddlers all paddling as one, and going through the journey with my husband was amazing.’ The club runs paddling sessions all year round on the Derwent River, and is based at the Motor Yacht Club of Tasmania in Lindisfarne. 06.01.2022 Today we re commenced our Come and Try sessions. Lovely to see 4 eager potential paddlers come to try out our wonderful sport and what a great job they did.

05.01.2022 A Derwent Storms 10s crew had a great day of racing at the Deloraine Regatta on 5 December. Races were close and, therefore, exciting for paddlers and very ente...rtaining for spectators. The rain that threatened the day held off until the final race. Our crew was very happy to win, what was, a close final. We do hope the regatta has encouraged others to try and enjoy our great sport. 01.01.2022 Derwent Storms paddlers recently enjoyed a wonderful 16km+, paddle on the Huon River. A perfect setting for Dragon Boating.
