25.01.2022 Nourish your nervous system every Tuesday and Thursday at 9:30am. When we stop and consider everything our body actually does for us it’s quite incredible! It turns food into all different kinds of cells that fulfill thousands of different functions, converts oxygen into energy to power our movement and all other bodily processes, drives our souls around all day, and so it goes on. Our bodies are a natural creation of Mother Nature, and just as Mother Nature deserves our attention, respect, appreciation and presence, so too does our body. It’s a lovely thing to be able to provide someone with the space and the permission to simply be in their body. It feels like the perfect time to really begin to value all of the things we have taken for granted for so long. @ Jan Juc 3228

25.01.2022 Resonating deeply with this audio from Marianne Williamson- lectures on a course in miracles. We so often look outside of ourselves for the answers, for reassurance that we are on the right path doing the right things. The key teaching that I come back to time and time again is to listen more deeply to the divine teacher that flows through me. That teacher that speaks a language only I can hear. My purpose then becomes simple. To tune into that inner transmission and trans...late that stream of ideas into something that serves the greater good, the oneness that we all are. Meditation provides the space for this deep listening, Asana (yoga shapes) helps reduce physical distraction from deep listening, pranayama and mantra help me centre and focus my mind so I can hear. My focus as a teacher is guide others towards to their own inner teacher. So they may experience the fulfillment of being their unique divine expression, whilst gifting that to the oneness of which we are all apart. in gratitude for all the teachers who teach me to listen more deeply within. 24.01.2022 Building a realistic lens through which to see the world for children or recognizing that our own lens is somewhat distorted and has never perhaps been realistic, I feel is an important process to move through to bring more peacefulness to daily life. Yoga has allowed me to reframe and relens the perspective I am taking, and given me an incredible tool kit of resources to use in a range of different situations. Tonight’s Kundalini class via zoom at 7:30pm I will be sharing some of these life hacks to keep you living and loving from the more satvic window of tolerance we can all thrive in together. Hope to see you there

24.01.2022 Meet one of the guardians. There are two of these beauties at Dea and they were the first thing I noticed about the property when we put a letter in the letterbox asking if the owners would be interested in selling about ten years ago. I feel they create a beautiful dome of protective energy over the property and regularly help me regulate back to earth when life goes a little wobbly. I believe the more separate we become from nature the more we suffer, as individuals and co...llectively. Our true nature is to be in relationship with nature on a regular basis. Visit with it like we would a friend, listen and learn from it like a wise elder when we feel discombobulated and lost, and care for it with with a deep gratitude and understanding of how it truly provides for us in all the ways it does. When you are not allowed to hug another human perhaps hugging one of these will help. They are strong, patient, forgiving, intelligent, beautiful, and really give you an energetic lift if you linger a little longer thank you @littleblackrabbit_photography See more

23.01.2022 The grasses are dancing as they are tickled by the breeze The birds are freely making their melodies The shoes of the joggers crunch on the path, and I wonder if their bodies are curious "where am I running to or from what?" I have a candle burning to mark this day. This moment is so full. There is so much to experience in the now. Why would I want to hang out anywhere else?"... Anyone up for yoga tomorrow at 9:30? book in here xx https://app.acuityscheduling.com/schedule.php

23.01.2022 When you realize you have drifted off the path that the original seed of your soul would have taken, it can seem easier to just keep following this new incongruent trajectory, than to stop and turn back. And in all truth in the short term, it probably is. However the short term pain of accepting you’ve gone astray and wading back through all that you have been avoiding, bears the long term fruits of peace, a deep sense of belonging, and an an equanimity that allows you to remain in love not fear as you travel on. Yoga is the lens of understanding that helps make it all make sense. It is the practice that holds space for this self discovery. It is the place of deep support as we sit in the ancient wisdom, and allow it to flow through us. In gratitude for all of that https://app.acuityscheduling.com/schedule.php?owner=18455224

22.01.2022 How this little yogi recovers from trying to get her head around all the technology required to teach on line! Booking links, audio, visual, scheduling software nothing a good wobble won’t release

21.01.2022 Something so satisfying about baking a sticky date pud in one of my home made clay creations then serving it to my guests. I’m totally an amateur potter, but these little moments make me smile to myself. I have always had this silly vision of opening a kitchen drawer and having it be full of irregular shaped pots that I have made myself, and somehow it has manifested. The older I get the more I realize that the most important thing in life isn’t pleasing others, or doing big things to seek approval and recognition. It’s these little moments when I am able to be with myself in my own little quirky ways and feel a sense of joy in the simple things like making a pot, baking a pudding in it and serving it to guest who has come to rest and be nourished. These little moments matter to me....

20.01.2022 A light bulb without electricity is of little use. Similarly if we rarely plug our bodies in to the source from which we came, to the peacefulness of presence, we may begin to feel lost, foggy, confused and unsure of who we are, what we stand for, and what brings us back into balance and bliss. Sometimes we just need a little guidance from another to remember to plug in. To remind ourselves we are light, we are radiance, we are okay right now in this moment. We are breathing,... we are being, we are whole and we are nature. As beautiful as the rising sun, as strong as the thickest tree trunk, and as sacred as land on which we love, work and play. Yoga is not about touching your toes, yoga is about touching your truth, resting in you heart, listening to your natural rhythm and remembering who you are. We travel back home on the rhythm of our breath and there we are received with open arms. Come home with me through kundalini zoom 7:30pm Wednesday (tonight) 6am Thursday 6am and 12:30 Friday 8:30 Saturday 11am Sunday Click below to reserve your spot https://app.acuityscheduling.com/schedule.php?owner=18455224

16.01.2022 For those wondering how play music on the porch day got started, Here is the TEDx talk below. Play Music on the Porch Day is an attempt to demonstrate the power of small actions working together to create a better, more peaceful world. After I did this talk a good friend said, That’s a great concept, now prove it. Play Music on the Porch Day is that proof. I hope that participating in Play Music on the Porch Day will inspire someone you to create a project to change the w...orld. What if we had 365 days of peace? #smallerpeaces https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=FT0ukPx98Vc

16.01.2022 Although I had planned to recommence courses for children’s mindfulness, teen and adult yoga, for now I will continue with privately arranged classes. I am able to accommodate 8 people per class whilst adhering to social distancing guidelines. If you have a group of 8 or less who would like to book a weekly or biweekly class for term three, please be in touch and we can arrange a suitable time for your group. Pricing for private classes is the same for 1 as it is for 8 peopl...e so it works out quite cost effective if you are able to form a group, and this is also a nice way of keeping connected to friends or family during this time of uncertainty. My currently style of group classes is merging together a trauma sensitive yoga approach whilst offering a range of kundalini kriyas, some mantra work for those interested and off course powerful pranayama and meditation. I have always resonated with the saying the only way out is in and I do feel strongly that the only way to restore balance to our unsettled world is to go inwards, and find the truth of who we are and what we are here to do or be. Please feel free to be in touch if you would like to discuss a regular class time for your private group. See more

14.01.2022 A little four agreements art and craft session to top of a wintery Tuesday. These will be going up on the fridge to remind me to teach these principles to my kids every day. 1. Be impeccable with your word 2. Don’t take anything personally 3. Don’t make assumptions 4. Always do your best... I was given this book about 10 years ago, and give myself a refresher every so often. Such a strong foundation of core values that can set kids up for a happy and free life. Perhaps any teachers out there could bring it into the school curriculum. Think of all the world problems that could have been avoided if every human had these values front of mind? Gratitude to Don Miguel Ruiz for this little book that has no doubt sent out some big ripples!

13.01.2022 The Kualin practice and why I love it. First class is tomorrow at 9:30am and runs for 75minutes and is $9 per participant. Book in via the link below ... https://app.acuityscheduling.com/schedule.php?owner=18455224

13.01.2022 TCTSY is an evidence based, adjunctive treatment for complex trauma. As we move through life, our body is faced with a myriad of traumatic charges that can remain trapped in the fibers of our physical body and influence the way we experience and respond to the world on a day to day basis. Complex trauma may effect our sense of agency or our capacity to believe we have a choice in how our life unfolds. Making time to be with and in your own body in a peaceful place, and becom...e curious about the sensations arising there, can begin the process of discharging the various charges that may be held within. Exploring deeply mindful movement is a gentle way to open or continue the conversation between you and your body, so you may move forward with the ability to hear the wisdom your body holds that only you can hear. I work one on one with others to support them to safely travel from the outer world to the inner world, as it can feel a little daunting to turn back towards the body if you have been avoiding it for sometime. I often use the analogy of a garden. The longer you leave your garden unattended, the more the weeds can overtake and strangle any plants you are trying to grow. It becomes more and more overwhelming to go back as you perhaps don’t know where to begin so you just keep looking away as it seems too much. However, revisiting the garden with the support of another can feel less overwhelming. You can face it together, and begin to work through pulling and releasing the weeds and slowly making space for new seeds to grow. Then you get to choose for yourself what you want to grow in your garden rather than having to accept whatever seeds life might have thrown in there without your permission. You can book your one on one session by clicking book now or if you would like to discuss the TCTSY practice to see if it is right for you, please feel free to be in touch. See more

12.01.2022 Resonating with this so deeply. Highly recommend this book by Glennon Doyle who also says our minds are polluted by our training. In order to get beyond our training we need to activate our imaginations. Our minds are excuse makers our imaginations are story tellers. So instead of asking ourselves what’s right or wrong, we must ask ourselves what is true and beautiful...... then our imaginations rise inside us, thank us for finally consulting it after all these years and tells us a story.... Selfless women make for an efficient society, but not a beautiful, true or just one.

11.01.2022 The festive season most definitely feels in full swing, and coming out of the slower pace of lock down, it can be so easy to get in a fizz with all the festivities and forget or skim over the learnings of this year. Perhaps it’s the perfect time to carve out some conscious time and space to be present to all we have learnt, release the residual gunk of the year and set some clear intentions of how we want to move into the new year. Nourishing food, nourishing nature, nourish...ing facilitation from Ben from @deepest_dish and the nourishment we experience when we consciously connect with other humans who are drawn to grounding, authentic and enriching experiences. Just talking about it all makes me feel nourished and I have to declare that nourishment is possibly my favorite word and definitely is at the heart of what Dea aims to offer. We have some lovely souls already enrolled in this special event, we hope you can join us too. Fill your belly, heart and spirit on the 19th December 8am-12pm @desaretreatjanjuc See more

11.01.2022 The practice of tuning in to the body when spoken of from an intellectual perspective may seem like something we do automatically throughout our day. We get up, we shower, get dressed eat breaky, brush our teeth etc etc. However it is part and parcel of contemporary living that many of us rarely truly pause and become curios about what the real experience of our body and mind is. To check in an be curious about how our life has impacted our nervous systems thus far and then ...going forward on a day to day basis. The car metaphor always resonates for me. We may drive through a hail storm, get bogged in a muddy creek, have a bird poop in the middle of our windscreen, and each time we would most likely take the time to clean or repair our vehicle if needed. We book our car in for regular service, make sure we put the right fuel into it on a regular basis, and top up our windscreen wiper fluid so we know we can always wash away anything that blocks our view. We make time for it because we know if we don’t, our car will stop and then we will be stuck. Yet in life it is inevitable that we will get caught in a storm, stuck in the mud, and have some version of poop thrown in our face yet we expect our body and mind to keep on keeping on with very little time to discharge the many traumatic charges that enter our nervous system. To really tune in, to turn towards ourselves, to notice, to feel what is really arising, was perhaps once more of an innate skill, that we learnt through being in close relationship with Mother Nature from sunrise to sunset. As we moved more towards materialism, individualism, capitalism, it seems to me that this innate value of the regular pause, the deep listening of the inner voice, the gathering of sensory information via our bodies wisdom has been pushed down the priority list. It seems to me Mother Nature is now forcing us to pause, to look inwards, to feel there truth of who we are and what we really need. If we continue to look outward we may so a threat and feel fear, but perhaps if we look inwards with time and patience we can find opportunity, love and deep peace. See more

09.01.2022 After a test run this week teaching via zoom I am excited to put up the new online kundalini yoga schedule beginning next week. I have put up lots of times to begin with to determine the most convenient times and days. All classes are 75minutes and are $9 to participate in order to make them accessible to all ages. I heard a quote today that went something like....just because there is not peace all around you, doesn’t mean you can not find peace within and these ancient ku...ndalini teachings are incredibly effective at helping us find that still, sweet spot inside. Book via the book now link to receive the zoom link for your chosen class. I’m so excited to share these profound teachings Here is what my highly emotional intelligent LA test student said about the class yesterday Em’s live zoom yoga class was the highlight of my quarantine experience thus far. I've tried a number of online yoga platforms in the past few months, from brand name yoga studio live streams to youtube freebies, and this was by far the best. Unlike in pre-recorded classes I've taken, I really felt Emma's presence during the practice. The Kundalini exercises we went through were exactly what I needed to drop into my body and be fully present in the moment. I learned so much that I can incorporate into my own practice going forward. After the class, I felt simultaneously more energized and relaxed. I can't express how empowered I felt after a few difficult months when I, like many people, have felt anxious and low energy. I'm so glad to be able to tap into her wisdom and guidance as a teacher during this period of isolation

09.01.2022 Both Belinda and Karlene are women who really live and breath their healing modalities and I have been fortunate to have their support on a number of occasions as I have moved through different times of life. 08.01.2022 Tomorrow’s morning classes include kundalini flow at 5:30am to get the day started followed by nourish your nervous system at 9:30am. A participant from Tuesday’s class kindly shared a reflection on her experience - Emma provides a container for safe exploration supported by gentle, intentional, succinct, expanding, illuminating and nurturing language. This class felt diverse to me simply through Emma encouraging each of us to listen to our own bodies and accommodate our own... needs and wants in any particular yoga pose or movement. The revelation presented to me in this class was that I have the choice of how much I wish to activate my body. I actually smiled in relief with the realisation that I can choose for myself the level of effort I wish to exert. Previously I would have pushed, striving to activate every muscle possible in order to fit the pose or get the maximum from the movement. The ability to activate more or less depending on my present energy levels or nervous system activation was incredibly liberating, enabling me to access deeper parts of myself that I would previously have ignored. 07.01.2022 Kundalini zoom 12:30 Tuesday 7:30 pm Wednesday. Some feedback from Saturday’s class... I enjoyed the way the class unfolded with a lovely mixture of seated meditation, breathwork, movement and chanting. 07.01.2022 Writing is so fascinating to me. I often put pen to paper after meditation and mostly don’t really know what is going to come. Sometimes my contemplations become songs, and others just sit in my stack of notebooks, I think there is at least one in every room in the house. This time in history is creating big shifts. For me it’s been a time to sit in the cocoon, not really knowing how long I’ll be in there and where I’ll be on the other side of it. I used to resist being in th...e cocoon, think I was failing, that I didn’t know what I was doing or why. But now when I feel it coming, I jump in boots and all, as I have this basic trust in my soul to lead me to the next rebooted version of myself. So I batten down the hatches and hang on for the ride, excited to see the new wings I’ve made when I break out again. It almost feels like the whole human race is in a cocoon at the moment, hanging on for the ride. I’m envisioning a beautiful set of wings, to carry us more peacefully into the future See more

06.01.2022 I’m fairly certain that doing this mentorship from Jan - December 2020 has played a big role in keeping me relatively even keeled during a particularly wobbly year, both personally and professionally. These teachings have been some of the most impactful of all the various yogic teachings I have come across in my 28 year long relationship with yoga. They really have it all, uplifting and grounding, from fun to focussed, completely free to finely tuned, I have expanded and rec...alibrated so many times that I fully believe now there is no end to this path of self discovery, so I no longer expect to get there, more so trust that I’m where I’m meant to be and that every day is different, and my purpose is to meet myself authentically, as I am with unconditional love each day and enjoy the ride. Thankyou to @sianpascale for her incredible dedication to her craft, the professionalism with which she delivers all her programs through @_thelightcollective_ and the this profound program which created certainty and stability for me, during a very uncertain year. And wow what a group of women I was blessed to meet along the way. So grateful to have shared the experience with you @bogals @jacinthafield @mish_mg @avrilbastianszbecomeyou @sarahmachadoyoga @hil.ray and all the other lovelies who were in our group See more

06.01.2022 Somehow I thought writing the word in Sanskrit would be a little less painful than in English but it doesn’t quite seem to be working. Dea has certainly had a rocky first year of life and has now tried several times to take its first steps and each time has faced obstacles that for now have been too big to overcome. It has certainly been a challenging road thus far, full of road blocks, steep learning curves and aching disappointments. However as I close the studio again, af...ter just a couple of weeks of offering classes to the local community, I feel encouraged by every interaction and shared experience that I was privileged to be a part of, and will spend the next 6 weeks deep in my personal practice to build on the beautiful energy that all who came to experience the studio helped cultivate. I look forward to reopening the doors and sharing the space with the local community again once the corona cloud has passed. See more

06.01.2022 There are so many different ways to breathe. It continually blows my mind (literally ) how consciously breathing in different ways can create different outcomes in terms of how we are experiencing life in our bodies and minds. If I hadn’t experienced these fundamental shifts in state personally and someone told me what was possible, I probably wouldn’t have believed them either! So I totally get that for many it sounds too good to be true that simply becoming aware of your... breath and directing it to behave in different ways can create such profound shifts in mental and energetic states. We really all do have this goldmine of resources within our bodies and it is called our breath! We can search high and low, far and wide, outside of ourselves, and pay a fortunate trying to find something to help us, when it waits patiently inside our bodies all along just waiting to be utilized. Empowerment is a key intention of the trauma informed approach to yoga. Being supported to to trust your own body for guidance and then making choices from the wisdom that is whispered within, may create a different and interesting experience, ahhh the places we can go when we truly listen to the inner teacher book in via the website or click book now xx

Dea is a place of peace and mindful living. It is a 3/4 acre property purposefully built to provide a safe healing place for people to connect deeply with themselves and nature. I live on the property in the main house with my three teens who are here 50% of the time. The villas and the main house are separated by the yoga studio and laundry and have their own driveway and access to the street. It’s important that longer term guests would have similar values to maintain the sanctuary feel of the place, strictly no smoking/drugs anywhere on the property. Dea was a dream/concept in my mind for many years and now it is here it has developed its own unique healing presence. It would be perfect for someone who wanted to use this lockdown time for conscious reflection and restoration. I am disappointed that I can’t run my new business at this time, but hope that someone can enjoy the space as we move through the next few months.
