25.01.2022 Some blooms from the last few weeks, not for sale at this stage, onlybabies not ready to graft from.

20.01.2022 Hi everyone, thank you all so much for your likes and support over the past few weeks, with the new group. Also thank to anyone that has purchased a plant. Not a lot out at the moment. But those of you that have visited will know lots more coming once it warms up a bit. The next large batch are double lemon yellows then four crosses of different purples. I am not taking orders. There are plenty for everyone, so please don’t be disappointed if you miss out on a few. *Just a quick note for the new people. It’s a bit too cold at the moment to plant seeds without using a heat mat. You need to have temperatures 20 - 30 degrees C for your seeds to germinate. . So best to wait for about 6 weeks! Cheers for now Cheryl

16.01.2022 The weekend has almost started, Yaaa! Time to do some a repotting don’t go too big because big pot take a long time to dry out during heavy rainfall. Also a good time to fertiliser and give them a light trim to keep in shape. Perhaps have a go at grafting the trimmed bits off you best plants on to single pinks. YouTube has lots of info on this. Or you could dry the cut peices with the hair dryer. Or air dry for a couple of days in the shade then plant them. Remember to keep repotted plants out of the hot sun for a few days. Happy gardening All, cheers Cheryl.

10.01.2022 Hello again, the question is about potting mix suitable for the Cairns area? Most people have a good blend this is just a suggestion: 1. Start with good quality seed raising mix and keep the mix quite moist for the first few weeks. Week 2 start 1/2 strength liquid fertiliser, every second week. 2. For the babies just removed from the seed tray, (6-8 leaf stage). Small pot are important to allow the pots to dry between watering. We always use small or course Quincan in the bo...ttom of the pots depending on the size of the drainage hopes Searles Premium potting mix is recommended or other good quality mix. Add 1/3 course river sand, with all of the seed raising tray in the blend, because it has coco peat in it, retains moisture. If you are heading into wet season omit the seed raising mix and add 5 mm quincan (or medium perlite) as well to ensure good drainage. Feed with very small amounts of sustained release fertiliser. Or liquid fertiliser every second week. 3. Second potting, and there after: Searles premium potting mix 3/4 of total mix the remainder 1/4 is made up from course river sand, 5 mm Quincan, (or medium perlite). This blend is quite a dry mix so water more frequently during hot weather. We usually add sustained release during potting and water in with a liquid fertiliser as well. * Please remember not to pot a small plant in a big pot if it is going outside in the rain. A big pot takes a long time to dry out and will result in your plant suffering from rot during wet season. *Avoid too much fertiliser coming up to wet season, particularly chicken manure. Using small amounts of sustained release fertiliser regularly is the safest option. You can add a bit more fertiliser if they need it. But once rot is evident you have overdone it!

01.01.2022 Good morning everyone, I have recently had an inquiry about the ferlizer. I use liquid 5 in 1 (from Bunnings) 1/2 strength for babies, after first potting full strength. Next potting a small amount of purple powerfeed and 5 in 1 as well. Then 2nd potting I have done a lot of experimentation get them flowering. Including orchid bloom and manny others. Most sustained release fertiliser is fine. Happy gardening, cheers Cheryl.
