09.01.2022 Happy AAC Awareness Month: Representation A lovely and innovative person called Tonne has created AAC for their daughter's barbie (from Kmart) and we think it's... brilliant! It's so important to see representation of yourself in the community, in media and as a child- in your beloved toys. This doll was made in the likeness of her niece Gretta, an Australian blogger from On Our Own Tracks. An amazing young woman, and her blog is worth a squiz: http://onourowntracks.com/ image shows: A barbie in a wheelchair with an electronic AAC device attached to the chair. text on image: Because representation matters: Barbie with AAC. It is so important for all children to see themselves represented in their world: in the media, in their community and in their toys. Shared with permission, instructions in comments. #AACAwarenessMonth #TWSWeLoveToChat #RepresentationMatters
