21.01.2022 So our plan was to introduce Sunset to Chelsei later this afternoon but I guess when you’re a working Alpaca Macho and the opportunity is there you take it!! Alpacas are instantaneous ovulators which means the Girls won’t ovulate until paired with a male. Their gestation period (pregnancy) is around 11 months and single live births are the norm (twins have been known to occur but it’s pretty rare). Sunset has been put in with the ladies as of this afternoon so hopefully thi...s time next year we will welcome 2 of his babies into this world (this will also let us know if Lakeisha & Gypsy are pregnant as they will reject any of Sunsets advances if they are)

19.01.2022 So I thought I’d post these pics now (again lol) as Sunday is shearing day - stay tuned for plenty of Alpaca spam as we show you the shearing process plus before and after a If you wanna come meet an alpaca before they loose their fleece send us PM and book in a time for tomorrow afternoon!!

14.01.2022 WARNING: GORE! These things do not happen often - but it’s amazing the cria survived.....

14.01.2022 It was lovely to have the Scruton Family stop by and say hello to the herd before they went for their annual haircuts! The rain put pay to our plans for the morning but we managed to get everyone all pretty for summer! Here’s the lovely Miss E meeting Stormy.....

10.01.2022 So that’s shearing done and dusted for another year!! Our babies are all looking a bit different without their heavy fleeces but they’ll feel so much better when Summer hits! 8 alpaca shorn, 1 mating done during the wait (thanks Sunset & Chelsei you provided some amusement!!). There will be plenty more photos and videos to follow as we sort through everything, prepare some fleeces for show and next year all going well some actual shows plus BABIES!!!!!!... Our thanks to the Team at Giaginye & Sotaycam Alpacas for helping us shear, ear-tag & vaccinate and the team at Shorn by Shaun for their hard work shearing.
