19.01.2022 A year ago I set myself a goal. That was to finish training weightlifting, and instead pursue getting on stage to compete in a Men's Physique bodybuilding competition. Knowing myself, I knew that if I told people that I was 'going to do a bodybuilding comp' I had to make sure that I did so. At the end of February, I decided to hire a coach from world renowned PT studio who specialises in comp prep @enterprisefitness. And this is where I met Lewis @lewis_franz_ , my coach/tra...iner that was going to get me ready for stage. As we know as 2020 brought some very interesting challenges, but because we set the goal for competing in season B, the chances of it actually going ahead were a bit higher. So we set the goal, and worked damn hard towards that goal. It was around 9-10 weeks ago where there was a lot of uncertainty as to whether the comp would even go ahead due to restrictions, this allowed me (in my mind) to go a little too crazy and do a lot of self sabotage during a week of my scheduled diet break. There were definitely underlying reasons why I was on a self-sabotaging binge, by the most evident reason was that I didn't want to get on stage and compete. It was too far out of my comfort zone - and it was getting very real as it was getting closer and closer to the date. My coach Lewis handled this like a champion, and made it very evident that if there was going to be any more slip ups, I could kiss the idea of competing goodbye. From that point, I doubled down on my nutrition to ensure that there wasn't any slip ups, and continued to book in sessions with the awesome posing coach @donnaatkins_theposingcoach. The other commitment I made was to not complain about being hungry, and instead use that energy for something positive. Moral of this story - I am super glad that I did what I did over the weekend, and I'm bloody grateful to have such an awesome sideline of support for the past months, and especially on the day. Thanks to the family for making the special trip to come and support me.
