25.01.2022 "Design is a formal response to a strategic question." -- Mariona Lopez

23.01.2022 Be soft. Do not let the world make you hard. Do not let pain make you hate. Do not let the bitterness steal your sweetness. Take pride that even though the rest of the world may disagree, you still believe it to be a beautiful place. Iain Thomas

22.01.2022 Colour is an amazing design and decorating tool....you can highlight beautiful detail or diminish the effect of less appealing detail and make it less noticeable. Colour can make a space feel open and inviting, fun and playful or cosy and intimate. There are so many colours to choose from...we are spoilt for choice.

21.01.2022 There is so much texture in nature...add interest to your home by adding textures. Soft furnishings are a great way to add texture in a room; cushions, bedding, curtains. Add texture to walls by using decorative paints or adding artwork or prints.

20.01.2022 interesting....

20.01.2022 Antique cupboard handles are so unique. This handle and backing plate is from a 1920's dresser. It has such unique detailing. Possibly brass and absolutely stunning.

20.01.2022 Refurbished an old built-in storage cupboard. Painted the main frame and most of the cupboard in white and left the slats as timber....quite effective. The previous wooden knobs were so 70's and not much to look at so I found some old chrome knobs that were a good replacement. They added just enough reflection and gave the whole cupboard a new lift.

18.01.2022 Don't be discouraged if you are struggling working from home. Working from home can be challenging at the best of times. Working to succeed you require good work ethics, dedication, determination, commitment, optimism, good judgement, and resilience. When working from home you have many distractions. Distractions can be your surroundings, the availability of food, your children or pets, your spouse or partner. You may have feelings of isolation. Isolation from your fellow ...workers and the daily networking, sharing of knowledge and collaboration that you have become used to working at your place of work. Working from home required more effort on your part to self motivate and stay connected. Currently trying to balance all the uncertainties of the times can be daunting however, if you master just two tips it can make a world of difference to what you can achieve. First tip is Priorities. Don't try an do everything at the same time. Set out and identify your goal. Choose what is significant and important for you to complete within a time frame, say in one week. Then work out the steps you need to take daily to achieve this goal. Second tip is Time Tracking. Time tracking and time management are crucial to keep you on task and focused. If you are not getting through the work you want, consider keeping a time diary. Set out your time diary from the time you start work and itemize all tasks that you do and allocate the time it takes. Your need to include, opening and responding to emails, taking a coffee break, researching, filing, lunch break, talking to work colleges, family/friends interruptions, any thing that you need to respond to. These tips are just as important where ever you work, it's just that working from home requires that little bit more discipline. If you can master your priorities and your time tracking you are well on your way to many productive working days. Stay safe, keep well.

16.01.2022 Everybody is a Genius. But If You Judge a Fish by Its Ability to Climb a Tree, It Will Live Its Whole Life Believing that It is Stupid. quote attributed to Albert Einstein... Each and everyone of us is good at something and this should be valued and appreciated. As Covid19 has changed our lives and disrupted our lifestyle, it has brought to light the many people that do everyday jobs that support us, and how they should be valued and appreciated. A surgeon is important...but so is our cleaner!!! Celebrate our uniqueness, our strengths and our weaknesses.

13.01.2022 If you are working from home it is important to consider your work space. Your work space needs to address furniture, lighting, air, view and noise. 1. Comfort and support in furniture that you use during your work hours 2. Good light levels appropriate to the work you do and the tasks you perform 3. Fresh air that is warm/cool appropriate to the weather conditions and your comfort. 4. Resting your eyes by looking out to a view... 5.Reducing external distracting noises that interferes with your thinking and concentration. A dedicated work space with a high quality, supporting and comfortable office chair is vital. Your body need to be supported correctly to avoid stress and strain especially on your back, neck and arms. A desk for your computer, a space for files and equipment is necessary to keep everything that you need close to you. A vision board that is in view of where you work may be an easy reminder to keep you on track. A timer is an easy and inexpensive way to remind you to take a break. A timer can also keep you on schedule for meetings, picking up the kids and even when to stop work. If you don't have a window to look out into a view consider some artwork that depict nature. Head phones are an easy and inexpensive way to cut out noise within the house as well as external neighbourhood noises like lawnmowers. Remember to take breaks and move around, take a walk to stretch your legs, look up from your computer regularly, consider reducing sitting down time and opt to do some tasks standing. Factor in coffee breaks, lunch break, exercise and stretching breaks, schedule in some down time in your day to keep you energized and productive. Look after yourself by being mindful of your comfort and support. Keep well and stay safe.

07.01.2022 So true...especially in current times

07.01.2022 Colour is an amazing tool....the right colour can change a room in many ways, it can also affect your mood, it can encourage positive emotions and transform your living and working space.....

06.01.2022 Here are 3 very important tips when selecting paint colours from photos; 1. Lighting Consider the lighting in the photo. Indoors, is it natural daylight or artificial light? Outdoors, is it a bright sunny day or a cloudy overcast day? 2. Surrounding colours What is the tone of surrounding colours, are they dark or light? What is the chroma of the colours in the photo, are they bright or grey? Indoors colours will be influenced with furniture and furnishings. Outdoors colour...s will be influenced with surrounding buildings, plants and trees. 3. Remember that photos are printed and therefore we are viewing an image that is not true to colour. Also viewing monitors differ and they do not represent true colour. Finally, check your paint colours with real paint colour samples. View them on the walls you want to paint in real time lighting conditions with surrounding furniture, furnishings or outdoor elements.
