25.01.2022 A child should NEVER be allowed to do this to ANY dog.

21.01.2022 This is good demonstration of how dogs should look and how to test if they are overweight or not. Obese dogs are a groomer's nightmare and apart from being difficult for us to handle because of the excess weight, they are a danger to themselves because of the health aspects of obesity.

20.01.2022 RE:COVID-19 Do not believe some of the erroneous press that human Coronavirus can be caught from your pet, it is simply untrue !! Canine Coronavirus IS going around at the moment, BUT it is NOT human Coronavirus. The canine version affects the gut and can appear as acute diahorrea and vomiting, vastly different to the human strain. Taking the usual care of your pet continues, grooming never stops , so we are available to do just that, with the appropriate distancing/sanitisin...g in place. We are open for business Mon-Thurs 8.30am-4pm. See you soon :)

20.01.2022 Please people who have watched the first episode of Pooch Perfect, don;t ask us to do ridiculous grooms. We don't do that. We have never done that. After almost 25 years in the grooming industry, what was portrayed in that show is not what it is like in real life. We're happy to talk to any and every body about their individual requirements. :(

19.01.2022 This is my foster dog Marley. He’s cute as hell. His cuteness has been both his curse and his blessing in life. Marley bites. Bad. Marley was a cute puppy. He w...as treated like a stuffed toy by a young child who wasn’t supervised with him. When Marley got big enough he started to defend himself from this unintended abuse the only way a dog knows how. With his teeth. At ten months old Marley was surrendered, covered in mats because the family who bought him didn’t understand the needs of a hypoallergenic dog. By this time the damage was done. Imagine not washing your hair for months the whole time someone was dragging you around like you were a teddy bear. So what do you do with a dog that’s snappy and won’t let you get close to it? You lock it in a cage. You let your frustrations get to you and you shove him into the cage because he’s biting you while your trying to get him in there. So now he obviously has issues with the cage. Marley was sent to a training facility that deals with aggressive dogs. I have worked with some very aggressive dogs. Marley is not an aggressive dog. Marley has no trust in people because all they have ever done is wrong him. Marley is terrified to be touched the wrong way because all his life he has been shown that touch only leads to pain and hurt. They said he had no respect and that he was unfixable and unadoptable. When I first heard his story I laughed, I thought he was a poodle with an attitude. Now that I have known him a while I know better. I can see the pain and the suffering this dog has been through. The animals don’t have a voice but if you know what your looking at they will tell you their story. Marley now has a voice, mine, and I am telling his story. Marley is going to be with me quite a while so he can learn to trust people again, working at his own pace towards his recovery. Marley is well trained. He can sit, stay, come, lay down, roll over, Fetch (exceptionally good at Fetch), and high five. He is house trained. He follows the rules of the house. He walks well on a leash. Marley does not need training. Marley needs to recover. I’m writing this with Marley at my feet. A dog that was a gift to a small child. A dog that was supposed to be therapeutic. A dog that was made into a monster. So this holiday season please remember; a dog is NOT a gift. A dog is NOT the responsibility of children. A dog (any dog) is NOT to be left unattended with children. A puppy/new dog is NOT a therapy dog. A therapy dog is a therapy dog. It takes years of expensive training to turn a dog into a therapy dog. You don’t buy them from some donkey selling designer puppies out of their backyard. A dog is NOT an impulse. If you want a non shedding dog be prepared to take care of that hair. If you want a German Shepard be prepared for all the training required. If you want a Dalmatian be prepared to deal with a stubborn pain in the ass. At the beginning of this I said his cuteness was his curse and blessing in life. The curse is obvious after reading this. The blessing? If Marley looked like a Pit bull he would have been put down a long time ago.

17.01.2022 The silly season is upon us once again , and no matter how hard we try, we can;t convince quite a few of our regular clients that they MUST make their December appointments well in advance. This happens every year and we have several customers who are serial culprits. We do what we can with a cancellation list but right now we don;t have any haircut appointments available before Xmas. We have a few spaces available however for basic bath and groom, but no haircuts. If you would like to contact us, the quickest way to do that is call us direct on 94825119 and if we are super busy or closed, just leave a message on the answering machine rather than leaving one here on this page. The response will be much quicker.

16.01.2022 COVID-19 UPDATE (As at 8pm 29 March) After listening to the PM's further announcements this evening, it seems that we are still going to be able to operate our business but at a much more restricted level. Appointments that have been made for this coming week (commencing 30.3.20) will stand, unless we are given further Government directives. There may be more restrictions put in place by the Premier tomorrow, but we will advise of any further changes to what we are proposing... here. Please note that our front door will be locked and we ask that clients call us on 9482 5119 on arrival so that we can admit you and your pet. We have a strict rule that no more than TWO people will be permitted in our reception area at any one time, adhering to the 4 sq.m rule. It is preferable that all payments be made via credit card or eftpos (Tap and Go facility) to remove the need to handle cash. Hand sanitiser is available for customer use, and please be assured that all other recommended disinfection methods are being employed. We will be honouring standing regular appointments but regret that we will not be able to take any new clients at this time. Stay safe and we will keep you posted.

15.01.2022 This is an article written in Sweden, but it is exactly the same issue that we have here in our salon. Coupled with no advice given to new owners on what type of grooming equipment that is needed or technique on how to groom, this is the end result. For the sake of the dog we clip short if presented with a mess like this. Attempts at dematting will only severely hurt the dog, and will also damage the skin. Just not worth the pain and agony, just shave it off and start again. Be aware that hair DOES grow and we are happy to educate on how to get to a good "look".

15.01.2022 COVID-19 Update Seeing that there has been some relaxation of rules relating to the virus, we will do a little relaxing too. We will reopen our front door (no longer locked) and admit clients to the reception area BUT we can only admit TWO people at any one time, to take into account the 4 square metre rule. ... We have hand sanitiser available for all to use. Contact surfaces will be regularly disinfected. Be safe, adhere to distancing rules.

13.01.2022 Be warned, these can often be both blind AND deaf

12.01.2022 This is so true, so many dogs act like children who are left at kindy, but as soon as Mum disappears, they become happy souls. We try to teach owners what tools to use and techniques with those tools but if they are never used between grooms, a short haircut is usually the go. Work with your groomer, we have the same goals in mind, a handsome looking finished product !

11.01.2022 We see this EVERY day. It's a tragedy, and no, gastric stapling in dogs is not an option. It's the owners and their families who have to make the effort.

10.01.2022 After the Government announcements made by the PM last night (Sun 22nd) re COVID-19, the impact of the restrictions are far reaching. So far that impact has not yet reached us as a business but it MAY happen. In the meantime we will be waiting for the next round of announcements, we believe will be tomorrow night (Tues 24th). Right now we have suspended bookings so that we can plan once these next announcements are made. They may or may not affect us. Please watch this space,... as this is where we will be able to most efficiently be able to advise our clients about our availability to take bookings , please be patient, we will try to do our best in most difficult times and we will keep you all informed through this medium. If we are able to proceed with grooming, you can call our premises (9482 5119) and leave a message to make a booking and we will endeavour to get back to you as soon as possible. In the meantime, rest assured that we observe social distancing and sanitary measures within our premises. Stay safe everyone, do your social duty and observe the recommendations ......................... and hope you were able to get toilet paper :)

10.01.2022 He may not be your favourite politician, but he is a Vet and speaks a lot of sense. Listen to his view.

07.01.2022 Please read to the end. There is a lot of valuable information in this article, written by an experienced person.

06.01.2022 Designer Dogs Grooming will be closed from Monday 23rd December until Monday 6th January. In the meantime, we recharge our batteries and wish everyone a Happy Xmas and a safe and prosperous New Year. See you in 2020

06.01.2022 Just in case you were wondering what is a REAL registered breeder. if you get papers for your dog, then ANKC registered puppies should have one or other of these certificates.

05.01.2022 Please read and digest. It is much easier to know what a purebred's typical temperament is going to be, far better than what a mix of breeds will be. Some of the "designer mixes" are destined to be time bombs in a dog park. Do your research and find out what specific breeds are bred to be like.

05.01.2022 In the last 10 days, we have had several people make appointments and not arrive for their appointed time. After calling them , they have said they "were sick", "forgot", "had the dog groomed already" but didn;t give us the common courtesy of calling us and cancelling. This denies someone else the opportunity to have their dog groomed and at this time when spaces are at a premium, it is quite a selfish attitude to take. We have an answering machine, so if you find that you can;t make your appointment, please leave us a message to cancel so that we can fill your space. Thankyou.

04.01.2022 We will be closed for business on Wed 8th April but back on deck again on Thurs 9th April. If you'd like an appointment (spaces available from Tues 14th), please leave us a message on the answering machine (ph 9482 5119) or call us on Thurs 9th. Our system of distancing which we implemented last week, seems to be working well. Stay safe, distance correctly and we hope to see you soon.

03.01.2022 Apologies to all who may have tried to contact us yesterday (Mon 10th) but we had no phone service and couldnt get any of our calls diverted to mobile either so we were unable to speak to anyone. However all is good now, with full service so we would be pleased to hear from you. At least we still had full power after the deluge that happened in our area on Sunday 9th. So not ALL bad :)

03.01.2022 Enough said. We see this all the time.

03.01.2022 It is disturbing that of the dogs that we groomed last week, approx 80% of them were either overweight or obese. For the sake of your pets please take a look at the chart that was posted here earlier showing what ideal weight should be and feed your dog accordingly to achieve a healthy goal. :)

02.01.2022 UPDATE COVID-19 Tonight we have had more information from the PM regarding the conduct of businesses, distancing regulations and restrictions on which businesses are to cease. Luckily, we are NOT ONE OF THEM. So, in line with Government sanitary policy, we will continue our procedures of hand sanitisation and surface cleaning in all our customer contact areas.... We ask that no more than TWO people be present in our reception area at any one time so that we can obey the distancing rule. Right now, we can start booking appointments again, so even thought it is 10pm, you can go ahead and leave us a message on the answering machine at 9482 5119 and we'll get back to you tomorrow. Please make sure that your message clearly states you name and contact phone number. For the time being, we can consider that we are running business as usual, but as has been with this virus, the situation is changing all the time, so we can expect anything to change at any time, so ........................... Keep checking here for any further updates. Thankyou all for your patience in these uncertain times.

01.01.2022 Re: COVID-19 There are no further changes to our arrangements since our post last week. There may be some questions asked about our service being "non essential" but we operate in the same manner as hairdressers , with even more distancing. Clients who came to us last week will attest to our methods, with social distancing and sanitary measures. ... The next Government announcements will be on Tues 7th April and if there are other changes that we need to make , we will advise you here, on this page. In the meantime, stay safe, observe social distancing and only leave home when necessary.
