23.01.2022 How 2020 has shaped future Housing Design... We have all spent a greater amount of time in our homes due to Covid19 and in particular with all family members at home attempting to work, study and live a semblence of a normal live, certain realisations have come to light. 1. We were not set up, to all work and study from home.... While some have enjoyed not having to be under pressure to get to the office, others have found attempting to work and live in the same space, mentally and physically taxing. 2. Work spaces needed to be separate from sleeping and living quarters to ensure peace of mind. However in some cases, this was unavoidable due to lack of available space. Requests for home offices and study spaces have steadily increased and with the pivot of online businesses and video conferencing platforms coming to the fore, it seems that this will be the way of the future. 17.01.2022 Renovating Character Homes - Lessons in Character Building... Every time you renovate you’ll always learn something new. Usually around things not going to plan, but always start with a plan: Create a vision board, what style do you like? ... Hamptons, traditional, contemporary; show these as images and also words; how do you want your home to feel or look? ; light, airy, welcoming, entertaining focus, relaxing. Live in the house ideally for a year to appreciate the seasons and how this affects your homes living environment: sun movement and angle, breezes, protection, internal temperature, noises and views. Consider where to add the most value and create the best change to the house. Kitchen, dining, living and outdoor areas create the biggest impact with lifestyle, having a relaxed welcoming area to spend time with family and friends Keep the houses quirks, its part of the houses personality. Character homes have original details, restore or improve these original details as it tells us the homes story. Invest where it matters, budget elsewhere. It’s easy to overspend so plan well where it’s important to you to spend the money. Look for the gift; sometimes challenges present themselves but look at them as opportunities or solutions.

I know that our beloved pooch will be considered in equal measure alongside our grown children, mine and also my husband’s needs in our next renovation and I’m looking forward to the challenge.
