24.01.2022 With the heat coming soon Here are some hints to help Dog if too hot. If hot outside they can suffer or be uncomfortable. Dogs don’t sweat like humans so they get hotter which can lead to problems. Dogs only respire through there tongues and a little bit through the paws. If dog gets hot he respires through his tongue which hangs out and gets longer and longer which allows the cool to pass over It cools the blood that goes to the heart and brain. Dogs don’t complain l...ike humans. Don’t let dog sit in the sun or leave them in the car as temp rises to quickly, avoid excessive exercise. Be extremely careful with young pups and the elderly seniors as the walking paths hold a lot of heat and dogs with heavy thick coats may need grooming Put ice cubes in the water to cool them Leave your A/C on in car or house or a fan on. Remember the dogs feet feel heat from asphalt like cooking eggs in a fry pan with cause burns and blisters and heat causes dog to suffer heat stroke. Signs of this can be dog drooling excessively reddened gums little or no urine sudden kidney failure increased heart rates and irregular heart beats which leads to shock and dog stops breathing or fluid builds up in lungs . To lower an over heated dog use a cool water bath not cold water but tap cool water , wet towel or fan or cooling mat to lower dogs temp Soon our temperatures will climb. If any concerns race dog to the vet for hydration immediately as can be life threatening if he or she has heat stroke Or dehydrates Sharon Reeeves The Dog Shed Dog Groomers. 34 Balgamba Street Lota QLd 4179

16.01.2022 Well back in HB enjoying the fire. For a brisk start to the day but the sun is beautiful and I’m enjoying my day on eggs mushrooms on garlic bread. Well trying my first dog today after hip operation. Will be down grooming at in Brisbane 31st July and weekend 1st and 2 nd. August. For a few days. For those who wish a dog hair cut I’m on ph 0424397925. Keep up brushing my fury friends as we humans get slack and your dogs under coat gets to thick and matting or clumping becom...es a problem even though the long look is nice but oops gone to far and the shorter not so fluffy look can be for us upsetting plus then Sharon it’s too short . Sorry guys when this happens as mum dad. Get into a weekly brush to the skin. Not just a lick and flick of the brush. Stay warm and remember jackets on a dog are great but they do compress it hair. See you end of July. Sharon and Chester. See more

15.01.2022 Today with Chester and his spirit of not listening to lead work and it is my therory that he considers the yard his and the outside world a challenge to defend has made me research mass ideas on collars and training from books to new tube .such a hot topic and medically from vets and the dog training world very much a time bomb . One view amongst many is an air trigger training gun that makes a fizz noise is better than citronella .read effects in vets journals and just coll...ars with lead damage to throat and the waste of dog damaging time to necks and throats of dogs to choke chains with part collars to full chokes a slip chains to prong collars made to certain specs is mind blowing. From the most famous trainers schools and academies and vet reports. My Chester you make mum work so trying a lot as a lot is based on breed and temperament. So it to depends on owners options as to what is right and there human reaction to structure , emotional sad to lack of research and feeling that certain methods are aggressive and even hurtful . All I can say is the age of information is here and if your dog/puppy needs help and structure then read try and keep up with not giving up Sharon See more

15.01.2022 Thank you as living in Hervey Bay is a new start as my mum in aged care here so doing the right thing as only child and 90 yr olds need love and support So the Dog Shed is what I’m called and mobile is 0424397925 for details and appointments.

14.01.2022 Keep up brushing mumand dad as wet coats go flat and have a tendency to not just tangle up but Matt aswe parents get slack and a wet dog is not everyone’s cup of tea to try and brush out. Smelling of wet dog and dirt from the yard or garden area makes a good a dog cocktail for flat hair that gets into a knot and before you know it has felted and matted . Be carefull of the dogs webbing when removing this if using scissors . Playing games inside like throw the teddy and tug can help with the energy build up as so wet outside .Older dogs love a cuddle and you can do gentle stretching and massage to help with stiff joints as massage or a gentle rubbing dogs love. Soon will come jacket and PJ time so get in early. Sharon Reeves. THE DOG SHED. ALSO KNOWN AS DESIGNER MUTTZ

14.01.2022 Hope all are well and while one can take pup and your self for a walk down the road so you can keep distance and enjoy the sun or is it rain tomorrow. I’m doing a lot of dog grooms passed to me at the door and had one tie there dog to my hand rail at front door .A new way to keep social distancing Remember to phone and check on community and if needing a vet visit. Phone ahead for an appointment as they need to keep distance to keep operating and cut virus potential spreading . Keep well and keep hands washed and stay safe.

13.01.2022 Having the old and the young dogs visit for grooms reveals that to much playing for the young and being old and slow needs to be noticed by the owners that our dogs may be in pain or depressed. Your dogs behaviour just not right or are they flinching or twitching in there skin when patted or stroked or not wanting to run and play as much or stretching and having difficulty in poohing or hot or warm along there spine can be signs that your dog may be in pain as can not jump onto the couch or into the car can be a reason to see your vet or Chiropratic vet as dogs suffer arthritis and over stretch muscles and twist joints wether young or old and can grimace if in servere pain . Check it out as dogs don’t tell us like kids . A paw to neck check up once a year never goes astray.

12.01.2022 Today is a day to look at training as so many dogs run a muck and human standards very . This can be time consuming and trying upon the family and trainer teaching dog the basics like not jumping upas a big dog can knock someone over or keeping dog off the couch or arm chairs as they consider it there right to beds couches . I trained my old mate Dudley when he was alive that unless I patted my knee it was not his place to jump up on the bed or furniture. With Chester my sil...kie he is just being a stubborn pup and having fun and peeing and poohing where he wants to . There are so many training models out there and which one is suitable is an open ended question and then cost for training . Any recommendations anyone as f/b. Puts up so many posts and each breed of dog has its Owen thoughts and breed behaviours. Love to here from you on training courses as we either make or break a puppy as it grows so quickly into an adult dog. Sharon Reeves See more

07.01.2022 As the weather Changes and cooler days are ahead which face our pets and us remember ..that a warm place for your dog is important as it’s the cold winds that bite and cause there joints to get stiff and circulation slows when getting a senior dog . So a blanket in a kennel or box helps and making sure your dog is not in a draft is important . If your dog is slowing down with age consult your local vet as today there are solutions to help with stiff joints and the pain t...hat often occurs that your dog does not tell you of. Dogs are like people and winter months can bring on mobility issues that can cause pain . Warm jackets help and there a many types available for your pet as well you can get heating pads for joint pain . Remember we humans don’t like the cold and light fires and put jackets on so rember your 4 legged friend and let us all keep warm as the days get cooler and the night get cold. 06.01.2022 Today I have decided to close the Dog grooming down at 34 Balgamba Street and relocate up at Hervey Bay. I wish to thank you all for your support in these challenging times. My ph number 0424397925 will reach me as I will have to come back to brisbane to see people and will make arrangements to do dog grooming cuts at a friends place on weekends. Vets are now advised to to only emergency surgeries to have less people contact. This is not helped industry as dogs now have co...ntracted the virus through. Infected people kissing there dogs and so now dogs blamed and tv news running wild with spreading fear . Moral of story don’t kiss your dog at present and keep out of dog parks as we don’t see Viruses but the effects are spreading g as not every person is swabbed and so on it goes . My grooming finish date is 6 th APRIL 2020 at Balgamba Street Lota. New address is 137 Elizabeth Street Urangan Hervey Bay. My mobile will be the same and I will be setting up grooming there . So for any visitors please feel free to catch up as I miss you and thank you all for your support over the years as rents more manageable there and have mum transferred to Anglo Care up there and Chester well he is learning to travel well in the car as it’s a great holiday place and 3.5 hours easy driving . Will miss you all but this virus and rents here are to challenging as we are it appears we are not out of the woods and so I need to say my farewells and wish you all well Sharon Reeves. 02.01.2022 With rain afoot and our dogs racing in and out of the house, a good measure to help slow dog down from hitting into things when feeling like a race around the house ,as having house fever from being kept in is to keep the foot hair clipped short under it’s foot as lessons mud and rubbish being brought in side and dog can get a better grip on the floor or life . Rain mud and wet hot feet can cause your dog to keep licking it paws and so have a hand towel close by to help out and dry between its pads as to help lesson them licking and licking and help avoid a vet visit as can lead to red and sore paws
