24.01.2022 Expect the unexpected. Thats the motto our Fresh Kitchens & Bathrooms team work to, when approaching a renovation project. And, it proved very true for our cli...ents at Tallebudgera in SEQ. Nial and Joy contacted Design Manager Tristan Toms to help with a bathroom renovation. The project looked simple enough. But, when Mike Demos began, they found termites in the main bathroom and adjacent bedroom. These destructive pests had found their way via the shower drain and eaten every timber stud. Fortunately, our experienced team removed the damaged timber and organised a professional pest treatment of the whole house to prevent further outbreaks. With the termites disposed of, the renovation finally began. Our carpenters replaced all timber, sheeting, window frames, skirting boards, architraves, and flooring. While our Inhouse Designer Taylor Farmer created a brand new stylish and functional bathroom and ensuite. Using only the best qualified tradespeople, we accomplished a fantastic bathroom and ensuite with the help of expert plumbers NGC plumbers, experienced tilers - JJ Tiling, and smart electricians - Alter Electrical. We used only quality tapware and vanities, with shower screen custom built to fit by Supreme Showers. Nial and Joy were thrilled with the results and thanked everyone, especially our Fresh Kitchens and Bathrooms team for managing the project and keeping everything on track and on time. 24.01.2022 Confused about differentiating between Capital works and repair claims? Essentially capital works refer to major construction to the structure of a building. Wh...ereas repairs involve fixing a problem to an existing structure or equipment. You can claim repairs in the financial year that they occur. Capital works can be depreciated and claimed over many years. New equipment such as an oven can also be claimed as depreciation. But repairs to an existing oven, cannot be claimed as depreciation. 22.01.2022 When our client came to us asking for a bathroom renovation, little did we know, termites had gained access via the shower drain and infected several other room...s as well. Subterranean termites also called "white-ants" are a highly destructive timber pest, causing major structural timber damage to domestic and commercial buildings in Australia. There are many treatments available. Prevention is the best approach, to avoid costly long term problems. In this case, our Fresh renovation team was able to remove all infected timber in the bathroom, bedroom, and ensuite. New timber walls, skirting boards, and window frames were installed. 07.01.2022 I am so disheartened this morning. Disgusted, angry and saddened. I am finding it very hard to be motivated to even log on to my laptop . Over the weekend I rec...eived a call from a woman begging me to get her out of her situation. She apologised for being so emotional while sobbing and trying to breathe. It is not DV she is trying to get out of she did that a few months ago. She is trying to get out of a refuge she has been temporarily placed in. The treatment this woman is being subjected to would not and is not acceptable in the private rental market, so why is it accepted when it is dealt out by a government sanctioned big service organisation one that receives millions in funding every year and no doubt masses of private donations. I’m almost 70, I’m tired, and sometimes I wonder why I’m doing this but then you get an email or text from a woman who Safe Haven Community has assisted, blessing us and telling us we’re guardian angels. Safe Haven Community call our women Guests, and that is how they are treated while staying in the home of our Providers. They are treated with respect, dignity, and kindness and we call on our outside networks to provide the woman with all the information she needs to assist her through her situation. Thoughts and prayers are great, but they do not get a roof over a woman’s head. If you’re in the Brisbane region please help us to help these women support us by coming to our Event on the 1st December, if you’re outside of Brisbane then consider being part of our Fiver for a Female initiative all details for both options are on our webpage.
