13.01.2022 Lastest HWS Suburban update... Firstly let me say, we are all fed up with the length of time this is taking and your continued patience is very much appreciated... Todays update is I'm told all State Gas Regulators have been requested by the ACCC to submit in writing their recommendations for resolving this issue. Once received a ruling will be handed down on the best way to resolve this across the board. The ACCC are heading this up and will be responsible for implementing t...his. The below is more accurate reflection as to why this process has been held up for so long. 07.01.2022 RECALL OF SUBURBAN RV HOT WATER SERVICE update Hello to all proud Design RV owners. We would like to make you aware of our position regarding the issued recall on certain models of the Suburban gas/electric hot water system in Australia. ... The identified hazard as we are led to believe is an elevated level of CO (Carbon Monoxide) being generated and entering the living space of caravans and RVs whilst being ran on Gas ONLY on certain models of the Suburban HWS unit. As it stands today the recall affects the following models: APPLIANCE: Suburban Recreational Vehicle Water Heaters MODEL RANGE AFFECTED: *SW6DEA *SW4DEA *SW4DECA *SW6PA *SW6DA *SW4DA *SW6DECA (DUAL FUEL) SERIAL NUMBERS AFFECTED: From 181315552 to 193002648 and 8190201139. Some serial numbers may end with a D. Manufactured from 4th April 2018 to 1st August 2019. These serial numbers can be found on the technical specification plate. This can be found by lowering the external hot water service cover plate, and it should be on the lower right hand side of the unit. We would ask that you please check the specification plate, and if the hot water unit falls within the category range listed above, it has been advised to stop using the appliance on gas immediately. The gas component can be disabled by switching the main white switch to off (this is the switch on the main white control facia panel with the red indicator light beside it) and also closing the gas isolation valve which is located near the hot water system (when in the off position the valve shut off cock is perpendicular to the gas line). Please be aware that it is still safe to use the hot water service on 240v. Just remember that there are 3 switches for the 240v side that need to be on for use: 1. External Black switch (remove external heater cover and switch is behind the pressure relief pipe) 2. 240v power point near hot water unit 3. The main isolation switch near battery charger which has HWS on it And always make sure that the hot water tank is full before switching on the heater in 240V mode. As of today, no official rectification measure has been issued for existing Suburban HWS by either Suburban, the supplier Coast to Coast or the States Gas Regulator, so unfortunately we cannot offer any more information at this time. Design RV will continue to press all concerned parties regarding this situation for an immediate resolution as soon as possible and when rectification measures do become available we will immediately relay to our customers what action is required. In the mean time we thank you for your patience and we hope that you are all enjoying this great country of ours in your Design RV.

04.01.2022 Suburban HWS Update... Hi guys, Sadly, I have no more news than I did last time. I have been regularly contacting Coast to Coast every other day now for weeks, and although I'm told a solution will be soon, I keep getting told the very next day that still we have nothing. More tests are being ran by the supplier in conjunction with the Governing Gas bodies and results are being received but still no closer to a resolution I'm told.... From a bureaucracy view point the time frame problem I'm told is, it is up to the AGA (Australia Gas Association), who are a Government funded Non for Profit organisation who receive money from the Government but can not in any way be influenced by the Government or hurried up, as we would all like. I'm as mad as you are but this is all I have to relay to you at the minute, I'm going away in my van for Xmas as many of you guys are, so I'm going to run my unit by 2KVA generator to heat it if Im free camping and obviously run it on 240V at caravan parks, which wont be a problem. This is all I have for now and believe me I've been annoying the crap out of the supplier to get answers, as I know Coast to Coast have also been doing with the Gas Associations. When I know for sure I have a genuine update to this situation I will let everyone know. Regards David, See more
