25.01.2022 A couple of images of the longboard from a few posts back all finished. 1.150 meters in length. Rock Maple, Zebrano, Spruce, Tas Blackwood, Rosewood and a lot of laminating in this one. Triple laminated with an opposite grain lamination incorporating Jarrah in the centre layer. Trucks and wheels form Sideways Surf at Tweed Heads. 22.01.2022 I cant quite work out what has happened here, I posted this last Friday then first it doubled up, then somehow it vanished ....anyway, here it is again. Friday...March 13th. M&A fit out. Fortitude Valley. ... Detail image one of the table bases. The brief for this project was to make the general style of the tables "barn / trestle" so we went for a tripod type construction. The timber for all these pieces is all from a 96 year old bridge that I dismantled about 4 years ago hence the dark stains of rust penetrating the timber throughout. No screws were used in the construction other than to hold the top in place after assembly. All joints were held together with oversized exposed contrasting dowels. The floor is 70% gloss epoxy.

22.01.2022 I made this wall hanger up for Mick Fanning a while ago. It's an old Tracks surf mag that came out the month and year he was born. I framed it up in some of the same timber that was left over after we fitted out the benchtops and other various bits of furniture etc in his new house. I think he was suitably impressed when I presented it to him. The magazine itself came from my own personal stash of old Tracks, Surfing and Surfer mags that I still have after collecting them as... a young fella. Sorry I haven't been posting for a while....I'll get back onto it soon.

20.01.2022 A 2.6m to 3.4 metre Blackbutt extension table that I am trying my hardest to get out the door and to the new owners by Christmas, but.........there are always other forces in play at this time of year and they are certainly working against me right now ! It will need nothing short of a miracle to pull this one off as I'm waiting on welders, then powdercoaters and then the removalists cut off time for loading onto his truck to get it up to Brisbane is this Wednesday at midday.... That gives me just one and a bit full work days (if I actually do get the frame back into my factory on Monday) to put it all together and get it operating smoothly. I need Santa's little elves helping me out here I think ! 18.01.2022 https://www.facebook.com/lakecomomotorbike/videos/1668779260020025/ A ride we did a few weeks ago from Lake Como up into St. Moritz in Switzerland via the Maloja Pass and back down via the Bernina pass. Being a bike rider since I was 16, I've always wanted to ride an alpine pass. Getting to ride two in one day with like minded people (Tom from the Gold Coast and our guide Mauro from Lake Como Motorcycle) on a 1200 Ducati in Italy and Switzerland was just something else altogether.

Made from Red Gum, Queensland Red Cedar and Wenge. 100% gloss finish with a fourth dimension to it that is not evident in this image. 14.01.2022 Timber, timber, timber........and now onto water. Here's something that I put up on Instagram today @DesignsInTimber_Qld and looking at it is a pretty nice way to wind up here tonight. It's a Pipe shot from Feb 2013. I'd just walked onto the beach and this beast was firing down the line, I just swung the camera up and fired the shutter as I was walking, I like it. Just shades of blue, white and big. 14.01.2022 King size bed in recycled Oregon about to have the cramps taken off and the slats put in then it will be finished, ready to go down to it's northern NSW home and installed. Move ahead a few days (this pic was taken last week) and it's down there and the clients are stoked....they love it. An installed pic coming up soon.

12.01.2022 4 meter, 12 seater Spotted Gum and Blackbutt boardroom table complete and installed at the M&A fit out in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane. After all the work it has come up beautiful and looks great insitu with everything else. Architect, designer, fabricator and owner are all happy with the way this one went. Job well done all round.

12.01.2022 I have been taking the quad up a bit over the last few weeks of decent weather....(the wind has eased off) these two images were from a camping trip down to northern NSW two weekends ago....both taken very early morning just on sunrise. 07.01.2022 Finally managed to get some images of a sliding internal door and fixed panel fitout we did recently from old reclaimed bridge timber. The running mechanism was bought in from the USA and is so smooth and silent. I've done a lot of doors over the years here at http://www.designsintimber but this was the first internal sliders and they came up beautiful. The finish is straight of the bandsaw, brushed and unpolished as per the clients instructions. Cover pelmet over the running mechanism is about to be installed. This wave was hammering along like the proverbial freight train. He made it through and came out grinning ...with the blow out firing him just about up to Sunset Beach. As for the lens you see here, I may be selling it soon. It's a Canon 600 L Series F:4 IS USM Prime. Lens only, if you need a body let me know as I have a few Canon DSLR's and may let one go. 06.01.2022 As it turns out I went out early this morning to callibrate all the drift settings on the quad while there was no wind so I could have it stable and controlled while flying over the ocean this weekend. The camera was attached so I fired it up, took off, did all the callibrations, landed, locked them in then took off again and tested. The camera was shooting and this is one of the pics. 06.01.2022 A couple of new decks I finished shaping, sanding and prepping for the spray booth today...Red Gum, Rock Maple, Zebrano and Spruce. They should be polished early next week and I'll get some images of them up here, can't wait to see these ones all complete. The Red Gum and Rosewood should be fair "poppin" with colour and texture in these I reckon.......what colour wheels, loud or not.... Red ?

06.01.2022 THAT light shade made by Geoff Worthing in the boardroom at the M&A fitout. I love this thing. Eighty year old chain wire straight from the farm to the boardroom and styling all the way. It hangs about three meters away from the big 4 meter table and really sets the whole room off.

05.01.2022 As promised in November 18th post below. A couple of aerial images from the trip down to Fingal Head two weeks ago. Arrived down there very early (sunrise) ready to fly, then ended up sitting around with the occasional swim thrown in until 9am waiting for the fog/sea mist to lift. It did, I took her up and this is the result.....worth the wait I think. Pilot (me) and co pilot/backup (wife) can be seen on the headland.

04.01.2022 Finished and complete. The little oil stone case I made from a block of Qld Red Cedar that I found in a clean up that I mentioned a few posts below. It's all polished up now and in service in the workshop at http://www.designsintimber.com. This block was actually an off cut of the timber that I built the Brisbane Boys College 16 seater boardroom table from (pic in my cover/banner shot directly above) a few years ago. Beautiful stuff.
