25.01.2022 On my travels yesterday, Education in the COOK Electorate was one of many issues that needs full attention especially in rural remote places. At this point in time of the COVID-19 it has posed many challenges ranging from lack of funding and resources. 18.01.2022 Celebrating our $500m commitment to help build a tunnel linking Cairns with the Tablelands, thereby taking pressure off the Kuranda Range Road, part of the Kenn...edy Highway. As Desmond Tayley - NQ First Candidate for Cook knows only too well, the traffic snarls & drama on this road are well documented but sadly, no commitment at all from Labor or the LNP....ditto the Member for Kennedy & his mates in Katters Australian Party. Our pledge is subject to North Queensland First securing the balance of power at the State Election on October 31 & is part of our $2b Roads to Revival package announced in Cairns yesterday. The announcement included other major projects in Rockhampton, the Burdekin & the Whitsundays, funded by mining royalties in keeping with our signature $6b Real Royalties for Regions program announced in Townsville on February 24. 15.01.2022 NQ First is going into bat for struggling tourism operators in Port Douglas...one town in the Cook electorate that is especially struggling because of COVID-19. As Costo says, we need to get the tourists back & surely getting them from New Zealand directly into Cairns would be huge for FNQ....not just Port. Weve had these flights before & we can have them again...so long as Labor listens to NQ First & our hard nose approach to reviving our tourism industry. 09.01.2022 Thumbs up to North Queensland Firsts $2b roads infrastructure package....something I proudly announced today alongside Desmond Tayley - NQ First Candidate for ...Cook & strictly for major job-creating projects in North, Far North & Central Queensland. For my own constituents, the big news is $200m to help deliver a flood-proof Bruce Highway south of Proserpine, thereby fixing the wet season problem at Goorganga Plains. It will also mean a dual carriageway north of the OConnell River through to Proserpine & a new interchange for traffic accessing the airport. As for the Far North, weve pencilled in $500m towards a tunnel from Cairns up to the Kennedy Highway, thereby taking the pressure off the Kuranda Range after years, if not decades, of inaction by Labor & the LNP. We also announced $400m towards new bridges across the Burdekin & Fitzroy.... serious coin for serious jobs, paid for by OUR mining royalties, after COVID-19 but it can only happen if we win enough seats on October 31 to secure the balance of power in State Parliament. I spoke with local people and listening to their concerns about number things eg: COVID-19, Health , Sports opportunities, better Roads, Jobs , and most of all they want a strong leadership from grassroot Leader not a corporate leader . Community mention they have never been represented properly in the past . So now is the time to change this if you vote 1 for NQFIRST. 05.01.2022 Today is Queensland Day....marking 161 years since Queen Victoria gave her blessing to us breaking away from NSW. One wonders how long itll now take for Central, North & Far North Queensland to break away from the rest of Queensland. This is something being pursued by my party, North Queensland First but before that happens, I seek your support at the forthcoming State Election, especially here in Cook which Labor has taken for granted for far too long. We must win seats to ...secure the balance of power in State Parliament and implement change....stuff like our $6b Real Royalties for Regions program which means $6b in job-creating projects being delivered for North, Far North & Central Queensland, including the Cook electorate from Mareeba to Murray Island. You wont get that under the LNP or Labor...as bad as each other & both pro-SEQ where their focus is 100%. Is that really what you want? It is time for change. 05.01.2022 Costo in the canefields outside Mareeba this week with Canegrowers Tableland chairman Claude Santucci and Desmond Tayley - NQ First Candidate for Cook giving th...e thumbs up to North Queensland Firsts policy of ripping up Labors reef regulations - if we win enough seats on October 31 and secure the balance of power. Costo has spoken to dozens of farmers in his own electorate of Whitsunday about this strong policy position, which unashamedly is about taking strong action against the radical greenies and the most left-leaning State Government in Queenslands history. It is made worse by the LNPs weak position of appeasement, with the South East Liberals making no such commitment to repeal this anti-farming legislation and, worse still the regional media, appears reluctant to put the blowtorch on Deb Frecklington and the LNP about their position.
