23.01.2022 Which bushwalk are you itching to do first when restrictions are eased? Whether it be #mountcolestateforest or #mountbuangorstatepark there's something to suit everyone. Let's start with a nice and easy family friendly walk like the loop around the waterfalls at Mt. Buangor. Approx a 15 minute drive from Beaufort and then a very comfortable 20 minute walk with young children around the waterfall. It's also a great time to hone your photography skills with there being an abundance of water and wildflowers.

22.01.2022 Thanks to the Pyrenees Shire Council Pyrenees Libraries for hosting me for the unveiling of the reframed Beaufort RSL Union Flag. The flag has a special place i...n the hearts of Beaufort residents, as it displays the signatures of service personnel who signed it as they returned home to, or passed through, Beaufort after WWII. The flag is a significant historical record of service for the local area. The Beaufort Historical Society received a $5,000 grant through the Victorian Government’s 75th Anniversary of the End of WWII Grant Program to restore and reframe the Beaufort RSL Union Flag, and to create a historical exhibition acknowledging the service of the Beaufort community. The exhibition will tell the stories of the men and women from Beaufort and the surrounding district who either went to World War II battlefields or who made other contributions at home. The Victorian Government is proud to be part of this event today that recognises and honours the men and women of Beaufort and surrounds who have served in all wars, conflicts, peace-keeping operations, and those who served at home. Through grant programs and funding, we are committed to supporting organisations such as the Beaufort Historical Society and Beaufort RSL to restore or install new memorials and plaques to educate and commemorate the service of the men and women of Victoria. I congratulate the Beaufort RSL and the Beaufort Historical Society on this project.

10.01.2022 We've just been notified that emergency services will be carrying out night helicopter firebombing training in the Mount Cole area for the next three nights (18...,19 and 20 of Feb). Residents may hear noise from helicopters in the area. The training does not involve any live fire and there is no risk of ignition. Where possible, aircraft will endeavour to stay distant from rural infrastructure. We acknowledge the potential impact of night operations on the local community and plan to complete activity by 11.00pm This training is a vital component to the development of the Night Fire Aviation Program, providing safe and effective night fire capability as another tool available to help protect communities during the fire season. We thank the local community for their understanding and welcome any questions regarding the training or our night aerial firefighting operations. Please contact EMV if you have any questions: Nick Ryan, Program Manager: [email protected] Warren Fuller, Operations Coordinator: [email protected] See more
