25.01.2022 Artist in residence Allison Bell's next concert at Detached in The Old Mercury Building on October 26 will feature the music of Maurice Ravel and Arnold Schoenberg. "I first performed Pierrot Lunaire a decade ago at the Wigmore Hall in London, with Vladimir Jurowski and members of the London Philharmonic Orchestra. Since then - from Pierrot, to Erwartung, his Brettl and other lieder, and Second String Quartet - this father of the Second Viennese School has undoubtedly been on...e of the most important composers in shaping me as an artist. He’s my number one - well, probably equal first with Berg - I’m sure he wouldn’t mind that!" The concert will also feature Jennifer Marten-Smith, piano, Ambra Nesa, violin and Sue-Ellen Paulsen, cello, playing Ravel's Piano Trio. Ravel's rich and profound sound world make this Trio one of the most remarkable and moving examples of the genre ever written. The rest of the program will remain a mystery until the concert itself, and will also feature pianist Karen Smithies. If you’d like to be in the audience, email [email protected] - tickets are free and you can apply for up to two tickets per email but you must include the names and contact details of all people you are applying for. Audience places are chosen by random lottery and are not transferable. Apply before October 21 with October 26 in the subject line.
