Dad and I worked closely with Masto behind the scenes particularly when his contract was at the crossroads just 50 games in what would go on to be a decorated 215 game career. The mark of a True Champion! The work rate Masto applied back then through the hard times....right up to the very end ... has been second to none,ultimately rewarded by achieving the highest... reward. All strong characters in their own right.....all supportive working on my strengths and weaknesses to bring out the best in me to perform to my full potential. Far more than just Boxing training and passing on their wealth of knowledge of the Sweet Science.... More importantly these 3 men provided life skills and ta...ught me the meaning of Discipline and Respect through hard work! All helped shape my character and work ethic to implement later in life. Woosha leaves a legacy of that may never be repeated. Fearless as a competitor, Woosha was a pivotal leader on the field. A Master tactician in the Coaching ranks...Respected by all. Both Dad and I have had the honour to have been involved during such a golden era and a most stellar career.. Legend! As a player (19871998) having played ...209 games for the Mighty West Coast Eagles,Woosha captained the club to premierships in the 1992 and 1994 seasons.Retiring at the end of the 1998 season. Entering the coaching ranks in 2000 under the guidance of Legendary AFL coach and mentor, David Parkin at Carlton...Woosha would return to the club in 2002 as Senior Coach to coach the Eagles to a premiership in 2006. By doing this he would join a very exclusive club to have won premierships both as a captain and coach! Woosha will go down history as one of the All-Time AFL greats! Aussie greats such as the legendary Jeff Fenech,the three Waters brothers(Troy,Guy and Dean) and the Artango brothers. But to me...no Bigger names than my two elder brothers Rocco and Clyde Devellerez. In a very select state team of only 6 fighters,both Devellerez brothers winning Gold! Champions... So proud!! 06.01.2022 Rumble in the Jungle! Another successful campaign abroad with Patty and his prodigy Jordan Samardali. Together they planned the downfall of the current PNG Champion. No easy task.. a Beast of a fighter! With both fighters having a similar amateur career having had over a 100 amateur fights each and both being Commonwealth games representatives. The difference being his opponent having had 14 pro fights with an impressive record of having stopped all his fighters within the ...distance. That being the case...once again Master Tactician Patty demonstrating that the Sweet Science is not always about Brute strength, rather planning and executing a strategic plan based on smart Boxing ! This victory now gives them a shot at the Oceania Title later this year. Congratulations to the legend Patrick Devellerez and the Prince. Grabs hold of me whilst out and about to say Gday. Sharp as a Razor, we reminisce about our boxing memories from the 80s/90s and current day trends.
