24.01.2022 Top Tip #6 embrace change. While it's great to celebrate success, previous success does not guarantee it in the future. Our stance is to keep changing, investing in new ideas and seek out opportunities to grow and learn. Change can be scary, but it enables growth

24.01.2022 We love this quote by Fowler! As a developer, you may have to jump onto a new project halfway through or hand over a project to someone else. Writing code that any developer understands is vital to making this process as smooth and effective as possible for your team. It's one to practice and keep in mind when you join us in the business world!

19.01.2022 There's an age-old saying that you never stop learning and this couldn't be more true as new technology, software and techniques mean that we're continuously learning to stay ahead of the curve. To share a little bit of what we've been learning (and what you might have to master as a developer), Kim's been teaching the team about CI-CD. This stands for continuous integration and continuous delivery Put simply, it allows us to develop and show our partners progress as we go.

17.01.2022 "School was pretty hard for me at the beginning. Steve Jobs Not everyone finds it easy to engage in the classroom. Not every student learns the same way. ... But, everyone deserves an education. Virtual reality caters for other preferred styles of learning and is supporting students who otherwise might have difficulty understanding and retaining information in the classroom. Giving students the opportunity to engage in the classroom is why we're passionate about virtual reality.

17.01.2022 Our guest speaker, Vlad visited the Devika team and had many nuggets of wisdom we wanted to share with you When you're applying for a job, particularly when you're coming straight from uni, it's easy to get caught up in the stress of wondering if you have enough experience or the right experience to have a successful application. Vlad's talk was the perfect reminder that a willingness to put in the hard yards, passion for what you do and effort taken to learn new skills is ...far more valuable than having a perfect resume Work hard, do what you love and nothing can stop you

17.01.2022 Learning is the process whereby knowledge is created through the transformation of experience. Knowledge results from the combination of grasping experience and transforming it" David Kolb.

16.01.2022 Top Tip # 7 Bounce ideas around. Whether it's a friend or colleague, having a fresh set of eyes can help to break through a roadblock. Just like that age-old saying, you can only go so far alone!

15.01.2022 Top Tip #5 take breaks! With Monday just around the corner we thought we'd kick of the week with a tip on productivity. Particularly as we are studying and working from home it's easy to forget to take breaks and continue working past the normal working hours of the day. Our tip for this week is to schedule breaks (and take them!) to allow your brain to rest and recharge. You need time to process information and often it's more effective to take 15 minutes off to breathe an...d relax than it is to try to push through a mental block. And often we're a lot happier by the end of the day when we do.

14.01.2022 It can be easy to feel intimidated when you compare your knowledge to the years of experience of a senior developer. But just remember, while a senior developer might have a few more tricks up their sleeves, at one point in time they were exactly where you are! Everyone has to start somewhere

14.01.2022 Everyone has to start somewhere... If we've learned anything from this story, starting a business doesn't just happen. You have to have a go and be willing to learn from the knowledge and experience of those who've done it all before https://devika.com/blog/first-business-year-10

13.01.2022 While this looks a little different at the moment, stand-ups are a great way we're keeping connected as a development team. It might be strategy you can bring to your workplace and it's also a good one to keep up your sleeve for group assignments too https://devika.com//behind-the-scenes-at-devika-its-time-f

12.01.2022 There's no doubt that technology can do some pretty incredible things but as Steve Jobs reminds us, what's most important are the minds behind the technology. When you support people, whether that be your friends, peers, or colleagues, the most creative, innovative and remarkable technological solutions are built. #peoplefirst

11.01.2022 Top Tip #3 Never doubt an idea based on the first design. Laptops and computers started out big and bulky. They were difficult to carry around and nearly always needed to be on charge. Nowadays they're everywhere. They're devices some of us couldn't live without!... Virtual reality is no different in our eyes. And thanks to Nandun at HTC VIVE we have been able to test out the latest technology with eye and lip tracking.

10.01.2022 We're working from home and have had a few extra friends join the team! A few tips from us if you're working or studying from home: 1. make a schedule 2. take breaks ... 3. get out of your pyjamas to help get into a working headspace We're sending you virtual hugs! Stay safe.

06.01.2022 Top Tip #4 Track your progress One of the best habits you can get into is tracking your day and project progress. To do this efficiently, you have to come up with a system that works for you! Why should you track progress?... It helps to manage the workload, is a quick way to update your boss on your work and time spent on projects and can act as a source of motivation for getting things done
