20.01.2022 Sometimes out of unfortunate events arise positive outcomes. Keen to support the work of the Save the Tasmanian Devil Program following the road deaths of four ...recently released devils, the West Tamar Council sprang to action and worked like lightning to help the Program have four signs, at 2 "hotspot" locations placed along Greens Beach Rd. Judy of the Parks and Wildlife Service at Narawntapu National Park also gave tremendous help, both in designing and in having the signs made. Thanks to the "WTC" for their ongoing and enthusiastic support - and remember everyone, slow down, dusk to dawn. See more

10.01.2022 Several individuals interacting whilst eating and one waiting 'patiently' at the water hole. What a great night of devil viewing!

09.01.2022 Our Tasmanian devils are on the road to extinction. Not only has a fearful contagious cancer decimated numbers by 90 per cent in some areas, devils are also bei...ng killed increasingly on Tasmanian roads. Donald Knowler has recently self-published a book, Riding the Devil’s Highway, to draw attention to a colossal incidence of roadkill in our state - dubbed the roadkill capital of the world by researchers. He’s started a petition urging the Tasmanian Government to impose speed restrictions at night in areas which have been identified as roadkill hotspots. Please sign the petition asking Premier Will Hodgman to act to save the devil and end a broader carnage which sees one animal killed every two minutes on Tasmanian roads, a figure that some estimates put as high as half a million a year. In the devil’s case, there is a very real concern that if the cancer does not drive it to extinction in the wild, the motor car will. http://www.thepetitionsite.com//stop-driving-the-tasmania/ We bought our copy of Donald's book at the Hobart Bookshop www.hobartbookshop.com.au/tasmaniana/ It's a thought provoking read.

01.01.2022 A new documentary on Tasmanian devils airs tonight on Nat Geo Wild at 7:30pm. It was filmed almost entirely in the NW Tasmania and shows never before seen footage of wild devil behaviour. Devils in the Dark owner, Simon Plowright and his good mate Nick Hayward produced and filmed this documentary over the last 18 months. Some of the footage was even filmed right here in Devils in the Dark! http://www.nationalgeographic.com.au/tv/last-devils/
