Thanks Scott Bond you legend The morning was the 27th of July 2019. A typical freezing cold morning on the western downs which had even the best of men searching for the bait and tackle til about mid morning. Just as the fog and clouds started to lift a quick Facebook stalk to lead us into lunch. Like a vertica...l version of tinder, away we go developing RSI when something catches my eye. A succulent cut of steak on a cutting board. What have we here... upon further examination I discovered that the local Hereford stud had released a line of beef to the public. The search for the perfect rib fillet had been an extensive one ranging from Fort Worth to the far north tropics of our glorious Queensland coast....Another contender loomed. Devon Court beef. I give my mate Tom a quick call to discuss the finer details of the contract and before you know it I’m on my way home with 12+kg of the regions finest steak. Excited at what the backseat of the old hilux held, I went straight out of my comfort zone and into the kitchen. Unfamiliar territory for the large red male. Like a middle aged mother at a Myer Boxing Day sale I hit the door of the oven and found myself with the hot plates roaring a shade of red only cardinal George Pell would recognise. The process had begun. Upon completion of the cooking process it was a nervous few moments to sit down and evaluate what had unfolded that day, from meandering around that morning to being face to face with one of the regions finest beef producers. Steaks* were high. The first cut into the succulent fillet was something I can only liken to a state of euphoria, something you would only witness in an anchorman movie. What followed was something unprecedented... my Devonginity has been taken. It is now my fourth night in a row of eating Devon Courts meat pack and the finish line is nowhere in sight. If you can take anything away from my out of body experience, just know that George Pell and hot plates don’t mix. Oh, and of course- get yourself some Devon Court beef!
