22.01.2022 Summer Youth Championship Series While the 2020 Season has drawn to a close, our Under 14 Boys continue to represent the club. Our boys play their first game of the Youth Championship Series tomorrow at Churchill Park, with kick off at 2.15 pm when they take on Launceston City.... A big thanks to the players and parents who have committed to the next 3 weeks, and special thanks to the Coaches (Darren Purton, Raph Reynolds, Sam Crawford & Alistair Ollington), Team Manager (Danelle Last), and Geoff Haberle (Sports Trainer), who have volunteered to support the team over the Summer months. We wish our boys well and will provide updates on the team’s progress over the ensuing weeks.

12.01.2022 Junior Annual Dinner Our Junior Annual Dinner for 2020 was held at our clubrooms on Thursday evening, where we recognised the efforts of our junior players, coaches and team managers throughout the year. Chef Groves and his superb team of assistants took care of the catering, and their efforts, along with those of the waitstaff was greatly appreciated! ... The list of award winners from the evening is included below. Congratulations to all individual award winners and we’ll done to each and every player that pulled on a Strikers kit in 2020. Lastly, a big thanks to the parents that have supported the players this year with getting to training and games. Your support is also greatly appreciated. We hope to see you all back in 2021!

11.01.2022 The Devonport City Strikers FC Annual Dinner for 2020 was held at our clubrooms last night, with a good crowd in attendance. In addition to presenting the many Football Tasmania awards that our players had won, we also presented a number of other awards, including the Best & Fairest awards for our five senior teams. For our NPL team, Gianluca Pizzirani's three consecutive 3 vote performances mid-season gave him a lead in the count that Connor Parke came within a vote of re...eling in, but, ultimately, it was Pizzirani that won the Harold Pattison Medal. Henry Andrews completed the double by adding the Chris McKenna Medal for NC Men's B&F to the League B&F medal he'd won earlier in the evening. Renske Rombouts completed a double of her own by taking home our Women's B&F, along with the League Golden Boot, having scored 21 goals in her debut season at Valley Road. Sammy Hardy was presented the coaches award for our Women's team, providing a beautiful moment when she delivered her speech while holding her gorgeous new baby daughter! Like Rombouts, Connor Lizotte also collected two awards, adding the Peter Best Medal for our NC1 B&F to the League Golden Boot award. The club and league Under 18 awards were dominated by two of our star players, with Chidinma Esomeju collecting the league Golden Boot, along with our club B&F award, the Ben Ralston Memorial Medal. Under 18 captain Tayden Lyall capped off a great season by winning our Under 18 Players' Player of the Year award, which was very kindly sponsored by our club Patron, Mr Mike Gaffney MLC. This accompanied the League B&F award that Lyall had won earlier in the evening. Impressively, our Youth Player of the Year awards went to siblings Maddy Payne and Jordan Payne, recognising them both for their work this season, but also acknowledging their potential to continue to rise through the ranks in the future. As per normal, the final award of the night was the President's Award, which Drew Smith presented to Sam Crawford for his tireless work across so many areas of our club. A true club person who gives so much back to improve the club experience for others, Sam was most certainly a worthy recipient. Thanks to all those in attendance. It certainly was a great night and a nice way to wrap up a challenging but highly successful 2020 season.

11.01.2022 Best and fairest awards were recently handed out for Tasmania's top male and female soccer players, but did they they get the recognition they deserved compared to other sports?

10.01.2022 For the third consecutive year, our #1 Nathan Pitchford has won the NPL Tasmania Golden Glove award. We’re very proud to have Pitchy representing us and while he contributes to our club enormously through his work on field, the value he adds in leading our Physical Performance team, as well as providing leadership for our playing group doesn’t go unnoticed. The Strikers fans love watching you go about your work, Pitchy, and we look forward to more great moments in years to c...ome! Congratulations! : Solstice.Digital & Photography : The Advocate newspaper
