Students are learning to be thinkers and innovators, then once the project is complete this is the pitch room, where they can present their projects to their class and to others - speaking their voice. Many board rooms have big chairs and big tables, at DCS our Omega Room is designed for children with BIG ideas. Big presentations occur in many vocations, pitching a proposal, a new product or ...campaign; speaking in front of others and sharing ones views confidently. Students always start writing with a blank lined page, they start a drawing with a blank piece of paper and start a painting with a blank canvas. The Green Room and Recording Studio are blank rooms, empty, waiting to be used as a creative backdrop for video and audio design. In this space our students are script writers, news presenters, animators, advertisers, designers, song writers, movie makers, sound en...gineers, actors and actresses, producers and directors. The green walls are the canvas and our students will pour their imagination and innovation into the digital creations. 22.01.2022 It’s cool to be kind! We are very honoured to receive a ‘Keep Australia Beautiful’ - 2020 Community Kindness Award today for Devonport Christian School. This award was presented for the school’s ‘compassionate and committed responses to reducing the impact of COVID-19 on the school community’. In particular our employment of a Community Relations Coordinator to love on, bless and support our families (yay Ema-Lee!), our financial assistance to families through the ‘Learning a...t home allowance’ and reduction in fees, and for the way our teaching staff worked hard and embraced not one but TWO, new on-line learning platforms to ensure learning for our students’ continued during COVID-19 (not forgetting the drive-thru coffee and pickup learning packs). 21.01.2022 Introducing.....the Build room at DCS Alpha HQ! The Build room is the LEGO room in our new learning centre. LEGO began in 1949 and is fundamental in developing fine motor skills, problem solving and expanding the imagination. Children are born curious and eager to learn. LEGO allows natural curiosity while encouraging them to learn through play. In the Build room students can learn how to design, plan, build, construct and deconstruct. These students playing and building with... LEGO, are future engineers, builders, designers and problem solvers. They investigate problems and find possible solutions; they build collaboration and communication skills; they learn to see failure as a form of information gathering; they develop an understanding of how parts work together to create a whole! 20.01.2022 Students and staff were very excited on Friday to find this mother and baby Tawny Frogmouth sitting on the railing in our wetlands. Tahlee had a dream of seeing a Tawny Frogmouth in the wild and has been searching the Don Reserve for the past month listening and looking. How exciting to find them living and breeding in our wetlands!
