23.01.2022 Young Tasmanian racing enthusiasts will have the opportunity to shape the future of the industry with the expression of interest process now open to become a me...mber of the Next Generation Racing Committee (NGRC). The NGRC will communicate the social and economic benefits of the Tasmanian racing industry along with promoting participation and attendance at race meetings around the State and provide input on animal welfare issues. Members of the NGRC will gain from mentoring experiences with top level trainers, breeders and stewards to gain a better understanding of the industry. Those selected on the Committee will be initially appointed for one year terms with the possibility of being re-appointed and will provide advice directly to me as Minister for Racing. The EOI process in open to any Tasmanian resident under the age of 40, who is either currently involved in the industry as a participant or who is seeking to become involved. Attention... quickly turns to Devonport on Tuesday where we have another 10-race card with seven heats of the Ladbrokes Classic highlighting the program. 18.01.2022 We're back this afternoon with 7 races in a combined greyhound/harness meeting. Greyhounds will kick off the day with a 3.40pm start, so kennels open at 2.10pm and close at 2.55pm. Greyhounds will run the first 4 races before alternating the last 3 races with our friends from Devonport HarnessRacing. There will be NO Catching service, Jackpot Dog or Trials today. These will continue on Tuesday. Our friends at the weather bureau are predicting a partly cloudy day with a m...edium (50%) chance of light showers. Winds east to northeasterly 20 to 25 km/h becoming light in the early afternoon, and a top of 19C. As the sun has arrived, sun protection is recommended from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, UV Index predicted to reach 9 [Very High]. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION As of the 13th November the Tasmanian government has re-implemented contract tracing requirements due to the borders being re-opened. As such, if particpants and patrons enter the grandstand and intend to remain inside for more than 15mins, you are required to complete your details on the Contract Tracing log which will be located on a table just inside the door as you enter. Track Marshalls will be onsite to remind you to do this also. Please be mindful of the markings on the floor and follow the direction of the arrows to ensure social distancing. Alcohol is available from the bar however you must NOT remain at the bar. Patrons can either consume their drinks while seated or take their drinks outside to stand. Anyone who is found to deliberately non-adhere to the requirements and/or refuses to complete contract tracing details will be asked to leave.

This week sees the semi finals of the Custom Resources & Recruitment Breeders Classic from races 3 through to 6. The Social Club Doubles are currently suspended due to COVID-19 restrictions. Last week, the Jackpot Dog saw Fitzgerald Grant drawn but was not eligible, so this week we have $280 available to be won. Our friends at the weather bureau are predicting a partly cl...oudy day with winds west to northwesterly 25 to 35 km/h, and a top of 16C. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION We are now OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. Everyone is welcome and gate entry as always is FREE! We will have food offered onsite in take-away containers only. Please be mindful of the markings on the floor and follow the direction of the arrows to ensure social distancing. There will be tables and seating inside the grandstand to comply with social distancing measures. Participants are asked not to move the tables and are only permitted to sit with those they travelled with. Drinks will be available for purchase however you must NOT remain at the bar. Please put your rubbish in the bins provided when you have finished. ORI Stewards will also have some social distancing measures in place. Please observe the maximum persons signage of each room. 03.01.2022 ******* IMPORTANT UPDATE ******** Race meetings and trials will now be OPEN to the general public in accordance with the June 24 announcement with the following restrictions: - Inside area - 1 person per 2 sqm up to a maximum 250 persons... - Outdoor area - 1 person per 2 sqm up to a maximum 500 persons - All persons who plan on attending a trial or race day should consider downloading the COVIDSafe app. - A reminder that if you are feeling unwell, to stay home - Hygiene requirements remain in place Temperature testing will remain in place for this coming weekend and be phased out over the course of the next 7 days. Social Distancing protocols will remain in place and be monitored closely, for operational areas, at all times by Tasracing Track Marshalls.
