14.01.2022 The Advocate spotlights Devonports opportunity to have your say on how to build a $75 million investment in homes, jobs, and opportunity. All ideas are good ideas here, we want to hear everything. The types of homes you want to live in. What you would like to see as part of the parks and gardens. Which community groups and creative enterprises you want to call the showground home. If we are going to deliver what Devonport wants, we need to hear everything. Initial support for the development had been overwhelmingly positive, but we still want to get everyones feedback. Visit www.devonportshowground.com.au/have-your-say

12.01.2022 The real stories of people in Devonport have guided this development from day one. After four years of listening closely to what you have to say, were sharing how those stories have shaped a uniquely Devonport approach to homes. Financially attainable. Adaptable. High quality.... These three elements make for far better homes. Better homes arent just nice to have. They can actually change the world. Heres why: When more people have access to homes that truly fit their needs (and dont involve exorbitant debt), communities are stitched back together. Time opens up to meet the neighbours, engage in hobbies, or volunteer to help others. Hundreds of jobs are created in construction, community services and craftsmanship - the kind required to build homes of the highest calibre. And huge opportunities arise for everyone as health, prosperity and happiness go through the roof. When better homes spring up around the world? Good things happen. 08.01.2022 Did you catch this piece in the weekend issue of The Advocate newspaper? It was great to hear an estate agents perspective on the showground development, happening at the right time to boost economic recovery after COVID, to support the next generation of young apprentices, and to fill a growing need for homes in Devonport. 07.01.2022 I dont think anyone could have picked that I would be homeless. Graces story is one of many being shared as part of Homelessness Week 2020, highlighting that insecure housing can affect anyone, and is only getting worse in Tasmania. A huge contributing factor is income relative to the cost of housing. The former is stagnating while the latter is going through the roof. It costs more to live than ever before, stretching hard-working Tasmanians thinner and thinner, creating... an unfair disadvantage for those on modest incomes. Covid-19 will only exacerbate this inequality. Homelessness Australia chair Jenny Smith says, The lack of housing that people can afford is not only the biggest cause of homelessness, but it also prevents people escaping from homelessness. Today we acknowledge the approximately 1620 Tasmanians currently sleeping rough and the tens of thousands of Tasmanians that struggle to find and afford a home. We are committed to a future in which youll all have safe, secure homes and that statistic is reduced to zero. Were proud to be adding over 200 new and attainable homes to the available pool in Devonport, easing pressure on the Tasmanian property market and showing how others can do the same. Have your say on how we build homes that will provide a secure roof for more people in Devonport. 05.01.2022 A huge honour to be featured on the front page of Tuesdays The Advocate. Were committed to working with the community as well as keeping the community up to date. 04.01.2022 The concept is great for Devonport, and Devonport has shown that it is ready for a progressive urban development such as this. Were so pleased to hear Irene Ducketts independent endorsement of the Devonport Showground development. This urban design and planning expert shared her thoughts in the weekend paper, praising the positioning, parklands, and services precinct (not to mention, the potential to positively impact future developments in Tassie). 04.01.2022 On the face of it, the proposal looks good, and it will deliver a mix of housing options, including independent and supported living for people of all abilities and social housing. It will wrap around parklands, which will create more space for Devonport The project also brings with it a significant promise of jobs and investment in the Devonport region. The Advocate editorial, 7 July 2020 Thanks to The Advocate for taking time to examine our recently launched masterplan. As we become more active in community conversations over the next few weeks, we appreciate the fantastic support and insight weve received. Devonport knows whats best for Devonport, so were keen to hear your take on how we build homes, jobs and opportunity for the community.
