25.01.2022 It’s a 2 way street when it comes to being rostered on a public holiday. Employers can ask employees to work a holiday if their request is reasonable and emplo...yees can turn down a request to work if they have reasonable grounds. So what’s ‘reasonable’? When looking at what’s reasonable, you need to consider: the employee's personal circumstances, (eg. family responsibilities) whether the employee will get more pay (eg. penalty rates) the needs of the workplace the type of work the employee does whether the employee's salary includes work on a public holiday whether the employee is full-time, part-time, casual or a shiftworker how much notice the employee was given about working the amount of notice the employee gives that they refuse to work. 06.01.2022 Low /Middle Income Tax Offset Taxable income up to $37,000 offset is $225 $37,000 to $48,000 gradually increases $48,000 to $90,000 full amount of $1080 $90,00...0 to $126,000 gradually reduces to zero This offset is unusual in that because it was legislated after year end your weekly tax withheld on your wages was not reduced. So if you have paid exactly the right amount of tax on your income through the year you will receive it as a refund. If however you have not paid the right tax, or have untaxed income like bank interest it will help pay the shortfall in tax and any excess after this will be refunded Please contact us if you would like to know more.
