07.01.2022 Another awesome transformation from the recent built by Dex 8-week challenge. Here’s what runner-up @gus_mati from Toowoomba had to say about the challenge: At the start of the 8 week challenge I set myself some goals that I wanted to achieve. It was tough at times due to work and family commitments but I stayed consistent and ate well which made me feel great and energetic. I started off at 110kg and finished at 102kg which I am happy with. I feel stronger and my fitness levels have improved significantly. Thanks Dex!

05.01.2022 Movement is medicine This year has really reinforced to me the power that regular exercise has on our overall well-being and quality of life. Throughout COVID I had the privilege of working with many different clients and they all reiterated how training consistently helped them deal with the additional stresses going on in their lives. They tell me it helps them perform to a higher standard at work, it helps them to look and feel amazing and it teaches them discipl...ine. For me consistent training allows me to feel great, it helps me to provide a better service to my clients which in turn helps my business and overall just makes me a more positive person to be around. Let’s hope everything settles down in 2021 but I can assure you that prioritising your health and taking the time to exercise daily will help you tackle any obstacle that comes your way. Merry Xmas everyone and thanks for all your support this year!

02.01.2022 Today marks 4 years since I started as a PT and nutritionist here in Brisbane. I am incredibly grateful to have met so many amazing people along the way and also to be involved in an industry where you have the power to make a huge difference to someone’s life. Im still learning and by no means perfect but now is a time where being healthy and fit is more important than ever. If I was to give some advice to someone starting out in the fitness industry, this is what it would b...e: Take the time to build relationships with people: Get to know your client and other members in your gym. Make the effort to ask questions and remember what they have to say. Be relatable and interested in their lives both inside and outside of the gym. Remember, it’s about your client - not about you, they are your business! Practice what you preach: Walk the walk. This doesn’t mean that you have to be a pro-body builder but it does mean that you should be training consistently and prioritising your health and well-being. It doesn’t mean you have to be boring and never drink alcohol or consume sub-optimal foods such as chocolate but remember that you are literally a walking advertisement. Would you hire a financial advisor that is in bucketloads of debt? No. Well then you are unlikely to be hired if you are a PT that doesn’t train and look after yourself. Keep learning: Speak to people and engage with those that are smarter and more experienced than you. Most people are willing to help others that are keen to improve and have a good attitude. Attend workshops that are relevant to the type of people you are training and also what interests you. Yes social media is saturated with a lot of misleading information but there are also some free resources that are full of awesome information if you know where to look. The little things matter: Be on time, smile, acknowledge people that walk past you. Be approachable. Repeat this day in and day out and people will start to take notice.

02.01.2022 The winner of the Built by Dex $1000 8-week challenge goes to Fraser It was a very tough decision deciding the winner but after confronting my panel of expert judges they all concluded that Fraser had the most significant body transformation in terms of muscle gained and fat lost. I would like to say a huge thank-you to everyone that participated in this years 8-week challenge. Your support means the world and I appreciate you all being so flexible throughout the COVID per...iod! Here is what Fraser had to say about the 8-week challenge: The eight week Built By Dex programme was an incredibly challenging and rewarding experience. For a few years now I have dabbled with the gym, and seen varied results that haven't motivated me to really push on. With the right programme coupled with a nutrition focus, what I've been able to achieve in eight weeks is far beyond what I've ever done! The programme builds up in three stages, which allowed me to build confidence, baseline strength and correct technique before getting stuck into heavier weights. The importance of coupling with the nutrition plan can't be understated. This, along with the useful online resources (social media community, optional extras and tips & tricks) have put me in a position to keep progressing, and reach new gym ambitions. Through Dexter's background and knowledge in the fitness industry, he has built an awesome tool that anyone can use to achieve their gym / health goals. Thanks Dex! Bring on the next challenge!!
