The 1800 IMSICK 1800 467 425 helpline remains the principle helpline for all medical support including if you begin to display COVID-19 symptoms or have travelled through a COVID-19 community transmission area (hotspot) as part of your relocation. What if my family becomes ill with COVID-19 symptoms during transit? If a family member becomes unwell with COVID-19 symptoms during transit, your family should seek medical assistance at nearest possible civilian medical facility and follow all directions provided by medical staff. You must inform your Chain of Command as soon as practical and your TOLL Case Manager in the event that amendments to your travel plan are required. 16.01.2022 A message from Chandell, Nth Qld Delegate for Defence families Australia I am sad to announce that I will be leaving the role of Nth Qld Delegate for DFA in December. It is a role that I have enjoyed immensely and it has created memories and connections that I will cherish. Unfortunately as a Defence family we are also subject to the posting cycle, and Defence has decided it is our time to move on. ... Leaving this beautiful community is going to be so hard! My young boys are settled in their schools, I have wonderful friendships and a support network here. Not to mention a job that I love and am incredibly passionate about! The opportunities I have had and the projects I have been involved with over my four years is still slightly unbelievable to me. I’d like to say thank you To all of the families who have connected with me and trusted me with their stories. Reaching out for help can be hard, and I feel so privileged to have been in a position to support and assist our Defence families. To all of the Commanders, Welfare Officers, Chaplains and plenty of others, for inviting me in and being receptive to my feedback. There is so much interest in improving the lives of our Defence families, and I am grateful to have the opportunity to share my experience and ideas. To the stakeholders and organisations that support Defence, for engaging so opening with me as a representative of the community. I have seen so many improvements and instances of cooperation and goodwill, and I have no doubt that Defence families will continue to benefit from this. I also just want to say, this is a crazy year to be posting! Luckily our move to Brisbane should be fairly uncomplicated, and my heart goes out to all other families as they navigate this posting season. My kids are like fruit bats, but we only get 1 fresh piece of fruit a day so that definitely went on our order. The meals only come between certain times and my kids are snack queens, so adding all their favourite snacks to the order made life easier. Then there was also the problem of the kids not liking what was served. We are resharing to highlight some of the questions that are being asked.... This posting season, ADF members are not permitted to take leave during the posting travel dates. They can take leave once posting travel is completed but this needs to be approved. More at https://www.defence.gov.au//F/Posting-cycle-20-21-FAQs.pdf FROM THE FAQS Can I take leave during my relocation transit? No, to ensure the health and safety of ADF families and adherence to State/Territory border controls, the dates allocated for posting travel must be adhered to. Annual leave is not approved during the period of posting travel and posting relocations are from the old point of posting to the new point of posting. Your travel departure date identified in your Move Plan triggers the commencement of posting travel and ceases on arrival at your final destination. Annual leave outside of posting travel is to be approved and managed by the Chain of Command in accordance with existing Defence policy. Can I take annual leave once I arrive in my gaining location while I wait for my service residence/rental property to become available prior to my commencement at my gaining unit? Yes, the departure date identified in your Move Plan triggers the commencement of ‘posting travel’ and ceases on arrival at your final destination. Annual leave outside of ‘posting travel’ is to be approved and managed by the Chain of Command in accordance with Defence policy.

We are looking for a new National Delegate for Northern Queensland. National Delegates are the heart and soul of DFA's advocacy work in our regions. They build relationships with families, Command, and stakeholders such as Defence Community Organisation, Toll, Defence Housing Australia and other Defence community groups. They are excellent communicators who can engage compassionately with a family or professionally articulate issues for Command and other stakeholders. National Delegates are passionate about the wellbeing of the families in their region. They can work collaboratively with Command and other stakeholders on initiatives to build strong and thriving Defence communities. National Delegate positions are remunerated according to the Remuneration Tribunal. The current Sitting Fee is paid at $419 per day for 85 days per year. Interested applicants should email [email protected] to request a DFA National Delegate Application Pack, which includes details of the position’s Eligibility, Terms of Office, Duties and Selection Criteria. It was tropical themed and HEAPS of fun, and I even got to make one last cake for the centre! ... Thank you so much to the staff at Geckos, and their helpers from Defence Community Organisation Townsville office, for starting our posting journey off on such a fun note. It is a wonderful way to acknowledge the transition that our Defence children are about to go through, and to give them fantastic memories of their time in Townsville
