25.01.2022 We wanted to know some of the ways ADF partners and members can reach out for help with their mental health. We spoke with one of the State Directors at Open Arms. Open Arms provides free mental health and wellbeing support for current and ex-serving Australian Defence Force personnel and their families. What is the first thing to do when I think I might need help with my mental health?... Talking with your GP is a great starting point. I’d also recommend talking to a trusted friend or family member to let them know what’s going on. 16.01.2022 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS - ADF PEAK POSTING CYCLE 2020-2021 What if I become ill while travelling?... The 1800 IMSICK 1800 467 425 helpline remains the principle helpline for all medical support including if you begin to display COVID-19 symptoms or have travelled through a COVID-19 community transmission area (hotspot) as part of your relocation. What if my family becomes ill with COVID-19 symptoms during transit? If a family member becomes unwell with COVID-19 symptoms during transit, your family should seek medical assistance at nearest possible civilian medical facility and follow all directions provided by medical staff. You must inform your Chain of Command as soon as practical and your TOLL Case Manager in the event that amendments to your travel plan are required. You must also contact 1800 IM SICK, 1800 467 425 and follow the directions provided by call centre medical staff. #DefenceFamilies #Posting #Moving #COVID19 #StayUpToDate More FAQs at https://www.defence.gov.au//F/Posting-cycle-20-21-FAQs.pdf
16.01.2022 FOR THOSE POSTING SOON Peak posting season is stressful we all know that. This year is no different, however we have all had to face so many additional challenges we didn’t really think were possible prior to 2020. Many of us have been separated from partners and family and in some cases, some of us have spent too much time with partners and family!... What we do know, is that Defence and those organisations that support Defence are all working hard behind the scenes to move ADF members and their families around the country in the safest way possible. Families are being asked to be extra patient in 2020 after what has seemed to have been an extra-long year to be patient in. We are still living through a pandemic with uncertainty. The priority is the safety of ADF members, families and the broader public. We are also potentially facing another summer of adverse weather conditions, so it is important that members and their families are moved safely and quickly. Everyone’s situation is different - where you are coming from and where you are going to. Do you have pets, do you have special needs? What do you need to move? There are also many rules and regulations set by states and territories that need to be followed. Getting to your destination as quickly as possible may mean that you may be directed to fly, this is to minimise your travel time and avoid hotspots that could develop while you travel. Those on the other end of the phone line are also working hard to do their jobs across often very tight time frames. Your first point of call for your individual movement is TOLL. Please contact your TOLL Case Manager or the TOLL Service Centre on 1800 819 167 Defence Community Organisation is holding another webinar tomorrow night (Thursday)... An ADF families webinar: Posting during COVID-19Managing quarantine This will be an opportunity to ask questions about moving. https://www.facebook.com/events/737326123529171 Contact us if you need us to advocate for you. www.dfa.org.au Frequently Asked Questions about posting (recently updated) https://www.defence.gov.au//F/Posting-cycle-20-21-FAQs.pdf #PostingSeason #WorkTogether #BeKind #BePatient #Flexibility #BeGone2020 #COVID19 #LetsDoThis

12.01.2022 So what exactly is a Talent Bank in an job application system? These tend to be set up like a non-specific job advert; they allow people interested in working for an organisation to provide their details even if there isn’t a current vacancy. What this allows organisations to do is when they have a new position available their first step is to search their system for potential candidates, this saves the organisation both time and money, they can move directly to interview sta...ge without incurring the additional cost of advertising. 10.01.2022 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS POSTING CYCLE 2020-2021 Are you posting soon? The Posting Cycle Movement Coordination Cell (PCMCC) has developed a range of frequently asked questions (FAQs) to help ADF members and their families. ... The PCMCC was established to act as the single point of coordination of all posting related movements of Defence personnel over the 2020-21 posting period. FAQs https://www.defence.gov.au//F/Posting-cycle-20-21-FAQs.pdf Is your Application for Removal (AFR) submitted? Communications have been sent to all ADF members regarding AFRS. If you have not submitted your AFR you must do it as soon as possible. Toll staff are working to process all current AFRs in order of priority. Any exceptional circumstances for moves are being reviewed against what is considered normal for other ADF families and the broader Australian community. States and Territory approval such as border declarations are still required to be coordinated by ADF members and their families. Postings this year will require a lot of flexibility from families in order for the process to occur safely and smoothly. If you need advocacy, we have National delegates available in all states and territories. https://dfa.org.au/contact/
04.01.2022 Our friends at the ADF Consumer Centre have come up with some ways to survive the festive season when it comes to money. #DefenceFamilies #Budgets #ThinkAhead https://adfconsumer.gov.au/surviving-festive-season/

01.01.2022 MWDU Families (Member with Dependants Unaccompanied) There have been some changes to policy in regards to reunion travel. This is for those who have not had a reunion trip for more than 6 months or those that have approved compassionate travel.... Defence members can access the details of this directive. Please ask your Defence member to check in with these changes if they apply to your circumstances. Throughout 2020 DFA has been advocating for ADF families. It’s great to see this policy change in response to the needs of members and families in these unique times. #DefenceFamilies #MWDU #Advocacy
