25.01.2022 Hi Friends, Liz and I had a very successful trip to Nepal, sourcing new products and forging new links with community organisations. We were very fortunate to have the wise and well connected Raja Wani to blaze the trail for us. Although Nepal faces degrading and corrosive levels of poverty some organisations are doing amazing work offering employment, health care, understanding and dignity to thousands of disadvantaged people who receive nothing in the way of government serv...ices or social security, in fact, Nepal really doesn't have a functional government at the moment. 18.01.2022 Hi Facebook friends, On the 25th of March Liz O'Connell and I will be making a trip to Kathmandu to register Dharmik Trading as a company in Nepal. Our aim is to offer quality employment opportunities to local people who face difficulties in finding sustainable livelihoods due to poverty or religious and racial oppression. Through the establishment of our own business in Kathmandu we can ensure fair wages, fair conditions as well as health care and access to education. We wil...l also commence some new clothing lines using some wonderful natural and sustainable fabrics such as soft hemp, soy cotton, bamboo cotton and natural silk. I will be posting updates and photos of our trip on facebook. Education in Nepal is scarce, poorly regulated and generally under-resourced. Public education is very limited and many communities simply cannot afford to have a local school. Many children in Nepal miss out on even the most elementary school education. Raja Wani, our manager in Nepal is involved in a charity that sponsors education for about 36 children. This is an expensive undertaking and Raja would greatly value donations of any unused or discarded educational materials such as school text books (Books written in English are fine) educational games, old but working laptop computers, comic books or novels for children of all ages. This business was established by the previous owners to raise money for an orphanage and health initiatives in Nepal.
