17.01.2022 Do you often get a sudden sugar craving in the afternoon? This often happens when your brain, which runs on sugar, starts to get hungry. 15.01.2022 Please be aware that there is a possible scam targeting people registered with the National Diabetes Services Scheme (NDSS). A person registered with the NDSS r...eceived a call from someone asking if they had an NDSS card. When she replied yes, the caller informed her that she needed to pay a $150 lump sum or $25 per month to continue her membership. If you receive a similar call please hang up and do not give out any personal information. The NDSS is an initiative of the Australian Government administered with the assistance of Diabetes Australia, and is free for all eligible individuals. You can report scam calls here: https://www.scamwatch.gov.au/report-a-scam

09.01.2022 URGENT RECALL Medtronic has issued a global recall of specific lots of infusion sets following reports of potential insulin over-delivery shortly after an infus...ion set is changed. Over-delivery of insulin can cause hypoglycaemia. To find out if you are in possession of any recalled infusion sets visit: https://checklots.medtronicdiabetes.com/Australia/English You will be asked to enter the LOT and REF numbers of all infusion sets in your possession and the website will then inform you which infusion sets are part of this recall and which are not. The recall is related to a certain discontinued component in these infusion sets and does not include insulin pumps or glucose sensors. This link explains how to have any recalled sets replaced by Medtronic who will replace any recalled sets free of charge: https://www.medtronic-diabetes.com.au/cu/safety-information

01.01.2022 Today we would like to remember Jerry Lewis. Diagnosed with type 1 diabetes later in life, Jerry Lewis was a true comedic talent, dominating the screen particul...arly in the 1950s and 60s and going on to become a powerful influence for comedians like Jim Carey and Eddie Murphy. About half of all type 1 diabetes diagnoses occur in adults. With continued research we hope to understand more about the causes of late-onset type 1 diabetes in the future. Thank you Mr Lewis for putting a smile on our faces. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oSyivQLQfQw
