20.01.2022 Re #Coronavirus and #T1D - It's a good idea to ensure you have a month's supply of medications at home, and unless you're rural and cannot do online shopping, you probably don't need to bulk buy much else. 15.01.2022 For most people today is just another Saturday morning. But for people living with diabetes, this is a big anniversary. On this day in January 1922, Leonard Tho...mpson became the first person to receive insulin. Prior to the synthesis of insulin, diabetes was treated using a number of different methods (including starvation), all of which would eventually fail without this critical hormone. Sadly, the majority of type 1 diabetes cases were fatal. Today we give thanks to those who contributed to this incredible advancement in medical science and to those who paved the way for future generations to receive the medication they need to survive. We don't know how many lives have been saved by the synthesis of insulin, but without a doubt, it's well into the millions. Thank you to Banting, Best and everyone else involved. You changed the world for the better!
