23.01.2022 When people use the term normal birth ideology and then follow this with stories highly intervened in births, I think firstly, there was nothing normal (as in... physiological) about that and secondly, do we discuss menstrual ideology or menopause ideology? Lets make birth safer and lets not marginalise any birth, but I for one wont tolerate a malicious, misogynistic misrepresentation of one of the oldest physiological functions on earth #ENOUGH See more

22.01.2022 Doula Foundation Training and Post Natal Doula training start again in January 2021

22.01.2022 Our First Nations birthing women and their babies need our support! Last year while working with Yolngu women in Galiwinku, a remote Aboriginal community in Ea...st Arnhem Land our Founder Renee Adair saw a huge need within the community for basic products for newborns and new mothers. Yolgnu mothers do not have access or cannot afford what most of us take for granted, hence the YOTHU (Baby) Basket Project was born! Through our charity arm, Doula Heart Network, we want to supply 50 baskets of basic supplies for mums and bubs each year to Galiwinku, as 50 is the average birth rate per year in that community. We then hope to replicate this project in all remote First Nations Communities across the Country. The ADC is committed to continuing to provide much needed training and products for Yolgnu women and babies, and hope to do so for all of our First Nations communities across Australia but we can't do it without your help! To learn more about the YOTHU Basket Project visit: https://australiandoulacollege.com.au/social-community-pro/ To learn more about Galiwinku Djakamirr Project visit the link in our bio.... What's needed For Baby Wraps Baby blankets Onesies Baby clothes, up to 6 months Nappies Wipes (bio degradable) Baths Baby Towels Nappy Rash Creams Face cloths Baby washes Nail clippers For Mum Nipple Creams Maternity Pads Body washes Moisturisers (face and body) Shampoos and conditioners Hair ties Hair brushes Toothbrushes and toothpaste Washing powder/laundry soap Please help us urgently gather these much-needed products. If you can offer any assistance, can donate goods or can make a cash contribution to help us get the baskets to Darwin, we want to hear from you. Email: [email protected] Phone: 02 4286 0089 This is a life changing project for the families of Galiwinku and we need your help to make this happen. We would be grateful if you could please share our project among your families, friends and communities. 22.01.2022 Thought for the day...

21.01.2022 BELLISSIMA....... Da leggere assolutamente ! Primo mese... Quinto mese Ciao mamma sei in ansia per me vero?

19.01.2022 We'd like to invite you to a free webinar on Tuesday, 9th of June at 1pm AEST. The COVID-19 pandemic has si...gnificantly changed antenatal, birth and postnatal care for many women. Necessary introduction of physical distancing policies and procedures have limited a womans opportunity for continuity of care and social connection at this critical time in their lives. In doing so, it has highlighted the ongoing challenges facing women experiencing social and financial hardship, when trying to access the current public maternity system. In this webinar, we will discuss the gaps in our system that have been highlighted or amplified by COVID-19 and the impact this may have on the future of woman-centred care. 07.01.2022 BIRTHING ON COUNTRY Have you ever seen the film, Birth Rites, by JAG Films? http://www.jagfilms.com.au/?portfolio-item=birth-rites... It demonstrates the wound that is caused when women in remote communities are expected to travel hundreds, or thousands, of kms in late pregnancy, to leave their sacred land, circle of support, mothers and aunties, to go to a foreign place and give birth in a foreign system. . . And it shows the exponential healing that occurred when a birth centre was re-established in remote Indigenous town in Canada, staffed and run by Inuit midwives. The mayor of the town marvelled that since birth had been brought back home, even the rates of domestic violence, sexual assault, substance abuse and suicide had significantly decreased. "Heal birth, heal the earth". . . Industrial obstetrics causes trauma in every community throughout society. It's culturally unsafe for pretty much everyone. But I have long thought that addressing the injustice of the institutional racism that is inflicted on First Nations people, when they are expected to conform to the "white man's system" at this critical point in their life cycle, is a first and essential step in healing birth for everyone. . . We all give birth on sacred, sovereign land, that was never ceded. Bring birth home, and let Aboriginal Australia lead the way. . . Beautiful, heart-searing, prophetic art photography from @bobbilockyer Kariyarra Ngangka (mother) and Yawuru father with their Kurlukurlu (baby) boy on Kariyarra country. In the first image Ngangka is sitting under the shelter of the Mia Mia nourishing her kurlukurlu. The Mia Mia was a shelter where the pregnant women would go and wait for the birth of their baby. Connecting with country, walking the path well trodden by their mothers, grandmothers and the women who came before them. www.instagram.com/bobbilockyer https://www.facebook.com/AboriginalArtistAustralia/?hc_location=ufi https://www.bobbilockyer.com/

05.01.2022 The proven breastfeeding method women all over the world are using to reduce the risk of latching issues, supply issues & damaged nipples: The Thompson Method ... Breastfeeding is natural. So why do so many women now struggle with it? Inconsistent, conflicting information and forceful breastfeeding techniques being taught in the hospital system often result in pain for many first time and experienced mums. Women are often told they need to do better by the hospital system, leaving them feeling like a failure who can’t provide the nourishment her baby needs. You never have to feel like this. Dr Robyn Thompson has 45 years experience as a midwife & a PhD. Her gentle, evidence-based method is proven to help women reduce the risk of breastfeeding complications while encouraging them to trust their natural maternal instincts You should not have to spend time worrying about nipple pain, engorgement and mastitis, low milk supply or problems latching. You SHOULD be spending it being present and enjoying the precious time spent caring for your newborn See more

04.01.2022 WHAT’S THE RUSH? It’s become my mantra over the years of watching women birthing their babies. What’s the rush in hurrying a labouring woman along when all is g...oing well? What’s the rush to commence coached pushing, simply because she is fully dilated? What’s the rush to birth a placenta when there are no signs of a haemorrhage? And what’s the rush to clamp and cut the cord immediately following birth? I implore you all, just take a breath. Normal birth is not an emergency. See more
