21.01.2022 Residents in Panjin China were mystified when their tap water suddenly caught fire. Local officials discovered a small amount of #naturalgas entered the #water pipe network, causing the flammability phenomenon #gassafety #watersafety

21.01.2022 #Potholing is digging a hole to physically expose a buried asset to prove its position. It can be done by careful hand digging or using nondestructive methods such as hydro vacuum extraction and water jetting. Not all asset owners permit potholing (e.g. high pressure gas) - always check with the asset owner first and follow their advice. Their requirements are usually stated in the information provided in their #DBYD response.

21.01.2022 Protect #infrastructure assets by using various methods; such as communicating to all working on site, erecting barriers and / or marking the location of the exposed infrastructure after #potholing has occurred #safetyfirst

20.01.2022 Lest we forget.

19.01.2022 If you see an electrical hazard marked with this tape in your street (#Sydney) it means it’s been reported to Ausgrid and crews have made the site safe until permanent repairs can be made safely. If you see fallen #powerlines, always assume they're live and stay at least 8metres away #safetyfirst

Watch how their team pulled TBMs Joan and Meg across the Parkville Station box (#Melbourne), in preparation for their relaunch towards the CBD #safeexcavation #infrastructure

14.01.2022 Pipes stored aboveground that exceed the manufacturers' recommendation for aboveground storage, could make the pipes prone to failure resulting in leaks, spills and explosions. #gasleak #gassafety #safetyfirst

14.01.2022 Planting vegetation on top of buried utilities is clearly not a good idea. Last night on the reality TV show The Block, a Palm tree was planted on top of a #NaturalGas service. The weight of tree bent the 40mm PE pipe. In this instance the tree roots had not wrapped around the underground gas pipe. #getplans #safetyfirst Dial Before You Dig NSW & ACT
