25.01.2022 Australia Day Awards Selection Panel We need passionate locals for our selection panel! Every two years the Diamantina Shire Council organises the region’s Australia Day Awards. To be held in Bedourie on 26 January 2021, the Diamantina Shire Council Australia Day Awards will celebrate the achievements and triumphs of locals who make our community strong and resilient.... To select the successful entrants, a panel of locals is required. As per the Diamantina Shire Council Australia Day Policy (available at https://www.diamantina.qld.gov.au//file/18/australia-day-p), the selection panel consists of five people: A Bedourie community member A Birdsville community member A Shire community member The Diamantina Shire Council Mayor The Diamantina Shire Council CEO To qualify for the selection panel, the community members must have resided in the Shire for at least five years. The selection panel is a voluntary group, with panel members covering their own travel expenses to attend meetings. The panel is renewed each time the Awards are held, so this selection panel is for the 2021 Awards only. If you would like to nominate for the selection panel, please fill out the form following and e-mail it to [email protected] or drop it in to the staff at the Bedourie Administration Centre or Wirrarri Visitor Information Centre. Extended closing date for nominations is Sunday 1 November 2020. For those who have already applied, your application is still with Council and so you do not need to reapply. Nominations will be considered by Council at the November Council meeting, with successful panellists to be advised soon after.
