10.01.2022 Our Breeding standards. You may or may not be aware the plumage colour is a new developmental colour within the sussex breed and so far does not have a breed standard as such but we at Diamond B Brids are breeding for a particular type to ensure the lavender sussex are as close to the sussex standards as possible. We are looking for a graceful bird with a long, broad, flat back; a long and straight breastbone; wide shoulders; and a rectangular build. The tail is held at a 45... degree angle from the body. The eyes are a beautiful orange. The comb is single. The earlobes are red and the legs and skin WHITE this has been a chalange to say the least. Cocks weigh approximately 4.1 kg and hens about 3.2 kg. Colour: Lavender male: Plumage: head white. Neck and saddle hackles: white striped with lavender. The lavender centre of each feather to be entirely surrounded by a white margin. Wings bow and back: silvery white; coverts to form a lavender wing bar; flights and secondaries lavender tinged with white . Breast: lavender with white shafts and silver lacing around feathers. Thighs: dark grey showing faint lacing Tail: dark grey. Undercolour: light grey-lavender, shading to white at skin. Female: Plumage: head and neck hackles as for the male. Back and wing bows: greyish-lavender each feather showing a white shaft with fine silver lacing.

08.01.2022 Very happy with our second year winning the Sussex club of Queensland Rosewood Paultry Club 2019 Overall Champion developing colour this time with our Lavender Cock. A few minor improvements to work on in the coming years but very happy to have bred him and to have in the breeding pens. Beautiful big heavy bird with thick WHITE legs. Hoping for some cracker chicks for next year.

07.01.2022 The wait for our new lavender babies is slowly coming to an end with the hatch date only days away. New unsexed hatchlings will be for sale but very limited numbers at $10 each

07.01.2022 Some more eggs in the incubator from three different pens all from nice big birds with different traits to see what we get. Its always an exciting wait for the babies. Some of these babies are on the fourth lavender to lavender cross and cant wait to see plumage colour, size and how quickly they develop.

01.01.2022 Just picked out my lavender boy to go into the breeding pen very happy with him. I'm starting to get some real size in these birds now and mean good size. Let's see this year how we go with leg colour and body colour. The lighter I'm getting the legs the more white is coming though my roosters.
