22.01.2022 Bobby’s weaning is going well. We are now completely separated and he is being a very good boy with his mate Humphrey He has taken to being rugged very well and now is an old hand at it, I can rug him without being held and he has no issues with the Velcro at all! We even tried on a real show halter that his daddy wore I believe! Still no issues at all We put in his registration papers today, so our first registered Diamond Valley Miniatures registration.... a huge thing ...for us Finally measured him properly, a whopping 27.25 inches at 5 1/2 months old We are besotted with him

22.01.2022 I think someone was happy to have a nuddy day and had now explored more of his paddock. Feeling fresh hahaha He is in of a day and back in the bare paddock of a night so we don’t bust though lol

22.01.2022 What a weekend! Full of plenty of horsey stuff since we can’t do family stuff! It has been decided that our stables need demolishing as one of the huge storms recently took off the roof and the walls are starting to lean no the horses are not in them now..... We needed to clean out the gear from the feed area and relocated it to our self contained unit that is near the horse/cattle yards. ... A lot of the gear had got wet due to this wonderful rain so out came the little washing machine that will take a 3’6 heavy rug at a time and I washed and I washed and I washed ...... it’s all done now While I was doing that we decided that Mouse could come out of his yard and have a pick of the feed that surrounds his paddock ..... the gates are all closed in the house paddock as we are isolating so there would be no harm.... the worse that could happen is that he would go down to the oats and we could get him off that easily....... the picture shows how far out of his yard he got, yes his gate is open lol for the first 15 minutes he was still only half way out the gate lol Took the opportunity to find all of our gear that was scattered all over to the one central new home for all things horse at Glenrock ..... I now know I most likely do not need any more paddock halters...... there seems to be a lot more 3’3 and under rugs that I thought I had and I think if I spend any more money on these items it won’t be good Amongst all of this Mr Bobby aka the turd had another halter lesson. This time out of the yard without the other horses and mummy..... he walked all around the tractor so not in sight of the others and was the perfect boy We also plotted out a few paddocks so we can have the horses all in an area that I have wanted to put them in for a long time, a lovely flat 10odd acres where there has always been feed of some kind no matter the season.

21.01.2022 One day we might win big in the ring .....one day ..... but to have bred a horse with the temperament that our 8 month old colt Bobby has makes us winners no matter what awards are given out at a show! Here is Bobby with our 5yr old granddaughter Indi. All she wanted to do was play and cuddle with him. He was happy to oblige lol

18.01.2022 Our beautiful boy Bobby has started his weaning adventure. As he is our only foal he is bunking in with Humphrey, who is being a wonderful friend to Bobby. We are soft weaning so from Tuesday he was in the yards for the day and back with Mum for the nights. We are now up to day & night times with Humphrey and just one quick drink a day. He is handling this better than I thought ... Bonny is happy to be away from her turd so it was time as she was dropping a little bit of weight. We even have our first rug on tonight! I’m sure we feel worse about doing this than they do lol

17.01.2022 Look Mum no feet

17.01.2022 Happy 6 months old our dear Bobby! The turd has made it to 6 months and is now weaned and leading. We walked around a couple of cones and walked over trot poles last weekend. I just hope he is like his when we finally get to take him out! He is as quiet as I have ever seen a young colt but still has that zest that keeps us on our toes ... Here is a video showing his temperament that is the same as his daddy’s!

15.01.2022 A big day here at DVM. We now have the start of our shelter/stables started. The plan is to have both the western and northern walls totally enclosed and the east with a half wall and a gate facing the south. So we have the two full walls completed today and Mouse has given his stamp of approval! He was very intrigued with all of the power tools and chain saw but never spooked once! There’s temperament or you!

13.01.2022 A big couple of days here for Bobby we had our first bath and clip! As I had hoped the handling we have done has helped immensely and this was the longest he had been handled. He had nothing more than pats and plays in the past 2 or 3 months. I am so proud to see what we unwrapped ... Pretty sure he will be stock type, will wait to see what happens now he out of the laneway full of feed and put slowly back onto a show diet Tomorrow we will measure and give him another good handling and hopefully a tie up lesson Loving my Bobby boy Edited to add before photos lol yes he was woolley lol

13.01.2022 So the turd turns 12 weeks today! Where did that 3 months go!! Handling will start with a little more frequency now but we can already lift all of our legs and stand to be groomed. We have done some work with a halter being rubbed all over and starting to go over his nose. He is good at this when he is not trying to eat the halter lol His little black points are starting to come through and his coat is a beautiful rich red.... No new photos today as it was just too hot after I handled him and fed up ..... will get some tomorrow Here are the upto date ones so far OMG he has grown so much

11.01.2022 Show season has started Off to Gulgong Ag show tomorrow with Mouse - Kenlee Park Amirs Governor Bay and Humphrey- Puzzle Pieces Dancing In The Rain. All washed and packed and ready for an early night so we can have quality time with Monique, Zoe and awesome mates and competitors ... Remember everyone it’s not the colour of the ribbon but the fun and sportsmanship displayed

08.01.2022 Haven’t posted for a while now as it has been quiet around here with no shows and lots of lovely rain. When feeding up tonight I decided a muddy hoof clean out was in order. Doing Pebbles first Mr Turd aka Bobby was curious so he was next.... He was eating his hay but I cleaned all of his feet out without being haltered or held by anyone else. Love a colt of 9 months old with this kind of temperament Mouse also had his first afternoon in his new yard. Didn’t go much further than 10 steps in the gate

06.01.2022 Many would know that our dear Bobby aka the turd was not our first foal. Rosie was our first born here. Bonny, same dam to both of them, came to us in foal. Unfortunately, Rosie at only a few months old was lost to us, she would have been 2 now...... I was lucky enough to win an amazing dip from @scruffy little ponies for a voucher to make a keepsake of my choice. It took me a long time to be able to post my snippet of her mane away and I chose a rose gold locket in her honour. It turned up today and I am absolutely ecstatic with it. It will hold a very special place for us and I will wear it at shows and most likely every day from now on. On another bright note the Turd’s papers turned up today! Our first registered Diamond Valley Miniature horse, Diamond Valley Governors General, it’s official! Talk about bittersweet!

05.01.2022 We had a brilliant day at the Gulgong show yesterday. Our results were great but that’s not what this post is about. This post is about why we do this and is probably against the grain of a lot of posts at the moment.... Here are a couple of photos of our granddaughter being a new equestrian and doing it well as a 4yr old. No photos of her and Humphrey as we were too busy lol yes Mouse is standing like a dick but there was girls out there Mum lol Yes there is a Champion ribbon .... she earned it ...... she is 4 and controlled her horse for the first time, she knew what to do to stop him when prompted, she knew how to turn him when given direction. Yes I had a second lead on ...... she is 4 in the open with a miniature horse that I never believed would be a youth horse .... he was a mongrel for me to lead and also for Monique to lead ..... he is Humphrey..... he amazes us every time they are together.... At the end of the day she is a baby and had fun with ice creams and lollies and love with her two trusted steeds. This people is what it is all about! Edited because I found a photo of Humphrey with Zoe and a top group of people

04.01.2022 We had a huge first today! I am a huge advocate for a lot of handling to build trust and in these past months we have been doing this. Picking up feet, being brushed all over, and I mean all over, getting rubs and scratches and of cause loves and discipline when needed if he feels the need to nip..... as a lot of colts are prone to do. We have gone slowly and put on his halter a while ago, practicing on and off and any given time. He now walks to us when we have the halter i...n hand and basically puts his nose in it for me. So today I decided I needed out of house time as I have been working from home due to this virus and just needed out, thanks goodness for our property as it means we can do all of this without seeing anyone .... Out came his new halter and lead, he needed a bigger size, and we gave him a bit of a go at leading. Bobby has made a start. To say I am proud as punch is an understatement! He never resisted and we did not need a bum rope at all! Owen did walk behind him to start just to give him the prompt to move forward..... didn’t take him long before he figured it all out! First video was the start and then progressed to the third one within 10 minutes with breaks between (If all the videos load lol )

04.01.2022 Great day today

03.01.2022 At almost 11 weeks old Bobby thinks he can steal daddy’s feed! Turd!

03.01.2022 So Bobby at 12 weeks and 1 day lol Was able to get some pics this morning while he was chomping on his breakfast! To say I’m ecstatic with this boy is an understatement...... if he keeps up his turdness he will be a stunning gelding lol... Measured him tonight a whopping 24 inches

03.01.2022 Bobby at almost 11 weeks old now and thinks he can steal his daddy’s feed..... so much character in one little body!

01.01.2022 So Mr Bobby had his first halter lesson today He was remarkably good, had a canter around, shook his head and then went back to his tea....... Good little turd is growing up
