25.01.2022 This photo is over 41 years old. That's me striking a pose, with my brother and father, Mum would have taken the photo. It brings back so many memories. The snowplay, the snowball fights, sliding down the slope to Gully, the ambush attacks of unsuspecting skiers (behaviour I no longer condone!), shivering with cold but insisting that we weren't going inside, and not skiing - yes, NOT skiing! We were too busy for that! We are standing where Sundance Hotel (now called Falls Creek Country Club), overlooking bottom of the Gully Chairlift, with the old Lion's Club Snack Bar that once stood in the middle of the Gully Carpark.

25.01.2022 More reasons to come up and @ridefallscreek!!

23.01.2022 Today was a brilliant day: working with some amazing people who not only great at what they do, worth what you pay them for if not more or want to show how much you appreciate them giving their time to help. Thank you everyone Serena, Clare,, Heath, Sarah, Mick (And the rest of the days models - Sarah, Macca, Justin, Clare, Tim, Charlie, Margy, Jacinta and Adern)

23.01.2022 Not to boast but I knew it was going to snow this weekend weeks ago. More often than not it has this week and while there has not been a lot of snow this year it has followed the typical times we expect snow. Nevertheless, for late September it still takes us by surprise, especially when there is virtually nothing on the ground and then we have over 30 cm fall in a day. This is one of the rare occasions we have snow below 700 m, and even rarer times that I actually get to se...e it this low - usually I don't leave the mountain during the season! Lovely, pristine, white snow. It is magical and mesmerising. I love snow.

22.01.2022 During these interesting, challenging and constantly changing times, it has been heartening to have the supportive connection and conversations online with many guests, or intended guests, throughout the year. However, to receive something via Australia Post, with card that has been personally painted and a message of support was quite beautiful and encouraging. Thank you, Helen and Ron, your thoughtfull gesture, it means so much. I hope I meet you one day.

22.01.2022 Dine and have Heath, chef if over 20 years experience cook up some incredible culinary experiences, like this evening's: Beef Tatataki - ponzu - ginger scallions sauce Slaw with roasted sesame dressing Brown rice congee -zucchini, asparagus and cherry tomato... ~ Tapioca Pudding and Chargrilled Pineapple Skewer See more

20.01.2022 Tonight's dinner drew inspiration from the Middle East.... Tunisian lamb rump with chevre and Israeli cous cous, followed by the classic apple and pear crumble finished with home made labneh and honey. So many flavours but so much complemented the others

20.01.2022 Falls Creek: more than just downhill skiing

20.01.2022 Like most of this year: we woke up and our world has transformed again. Although this is much more magical. But it has an element of sadness. Regretfully, I kept thinking if Victoria goes into lockdown it would surely dump snow. Sometimes I hate being right. Enjoy the pictures anyway.

19.01.2022 In a year that is... well, 2020....there is some good news. The MTB Park at Falls Creek are opening early. No Ignition to ignite the MTB passion and no Blu Dirt MTB grabity shuttles YET (next month). BUT they have all of these guys have been working hard so that the trails will be ready to ride on 30th October. So soon. So wonderfully soon. It will be great to see you again

18.01.2022 https://www.ambmag.com.au//win-an-epic-weekend-in-falls-cr Have you entered yet!? Win an epic weekend riding epic MTB trails, staying in an epic lodge

18.01.2022 Diana Alpine Lodge dates back to the 1950s, built by Kevin Shoebridge. The lodge was sold to the Van Burcks in the late 60s and was bought by my family (and others) in the mid 1970s. Would love to know more about the history of Diana Alpine Lodge, and hoping that people like @margaretvan0509 can help out!

15.01.2022 So close but not quite. Day 5 of @unitetofightcancer and am short 22.5 km of the 200 km. Nearly 900m vertical climb today. I need a rest Tomorrow I have to d...rive 350 km for my annual scans - treatment 30 years ago puts me in a risk category for breast cancer. Then I have a dermatology check up for skin cancer - 19 years since that one. In a month's time it will be the scans for the metastatic melanoma that I received treatment for 3 years and 9 months ago. But I am still here and still peddling! I can thanks the likes of @petermaccancercentre for that. https://my.unitetofightcancer.org.au/lisa-logan See more

15.01.2022 Practise social-distancing wherever you go. Even at the top of Falls Creek. From where we sat and watched the sunrise this morning, marveling at the arrival of another day, it was easy to be positive and hopeful for the future. Unfortunately now with the restrictions in Victoria for the next six weeks in place means we can't be hopeful any more of seeing most our dear guests for this season. ... Instead we have to urge all to please adhere to the rules. This is so important now. Life under the declared State of Disaster is going to be hard but so important. We know this is going to be devastaing on industries like ours, but it need not be for others if people do the right thing and be careful and considerate for everyone. Please stay home. We will look forward to seeing you in the warmer months or next year. @jesslj17uhh

14.01.2022 Reduced restrictions, number of COVID cases dropping, warming weather (yes, I am ignoring the forecast for snow this weekend )... all means we can start looking foward and planning for days like these....

09.01.2022 So our "Snowfall of the season" has followed the rest of the theme of 2020: disappointing and frustrating. So I am resorting to photos from May.

08.01.2022 Interesting times, calls for interesting measures. We are taking Diana to the Valleys since people can't come here. This weekend we will be at the Bright Make It, Bake It, Grow It Market at Howitt Park on Saturday 15 August 9 am - 1 pm. Chef, Heath's food is too good not to share.... 03.01.2022 Today is the day I dedicate this run to my Dad, Don. Today he would have turned 81. He (and Mum, of course) is the reason I ski, the reason I live in Falls Creek and the reason I have run @dianaalpinelodge for the past 25 years. Ruined Castle was one of his favourite runs. I can still hear him giving a hoot of joy coming down that run on a clear, sunny day, nicely groomed piste on slightly softened snow. Of course, it had to be pretty good conditions for him to ski. He m...issed out on skiing in his 79th year, passing away early July 2018, but as he has done in other ways that inspired me to do things: I hope I will be inspired to be hooting as I ski Ruined Castle in my 78th year and maybe beyond. I maybe smiling but there are tears behind those sunglasses. Happy Birthday, Dad

02.01.2022 Diana Alpine Lodge and the village emerging from the cloud. The rain for most of the day has washed almost all that was left of the snow that fell 3 weeks ago. So it is spring. Such a different spring. In so many ways. However, I like the blue sky appearing about the village, like it is representing some hope. Today, Premier Dan Andrews, made some announcements that give us some hope. It isn't a ticket out: that requires a lot more hard work and resislience, but hopefully everyone will put in a bit more effort so we can cross the line into a COVID Normal a little sooner.

01.01.2022 For all our winter guests: I hope to see you in 2021.
