25.01.2022 Have just emailed out my latest update! Let me know if you haven't received it and you'd like to. Tonight I'll be leading a workshop on testimony writing. This is one of my favourite workshops to run. I love hearing how God is at work in our students!
24.01.2022 Back to the coal face after three weeks without students while they were on break. Lots of catch-ups today and then tonight I'm teaching a workshop (the first in a two-week series) on leadership and spiritual gifts. Last time I had 4 weeks -- please pray I would be clear and CONCISE! :)
24.01.2022 So encouraging to read!
24.01.2022 We're all set up at Sturt campus! Jesus Week is in full swing as we seek to communicate that Jesus is about relationship, not religion. We'll be doing this every day this week at different spots on campus so please think of us!
23.01.2022 The questions are coming in and the hot cross buns are flying out the door!
20.01.2022 After a week off sick, I'm back in the game! Tonight sees the regular TNT program give way to Resolve, an annual conference that we run over three weeks. This year's topic is "Engaging with Islam", and tonight we kick off by hearing from Sam Green, AFES's Islamic Specialist. He's going to help us Build, through Biblical teaching on where to start when responding to Islam. We continue with Engage and Respond in the next two weeks (I'll update you and go into more detail as we get to them). I'm super excited -- already Sam has met with the staff team and there is SO MUCH that he could teach us here, especially with Ramadan starting in a couple of weeks. Please pray that the students will learn lots too!
20.01.2022 Hooray! We are very active!
20.01.2022 First week of Term 4! It's good to be back and we're squeezing a lot in to this tiny term. Tonight is a Prayer Night at TNT, where we'll be praying for the people groups that are least reached and most hostile to the Bible and Christians. You might like to pray along with us, wherever you are!
19.01.2022 It's a brand new semester in a brand new year! Lots of opportunities to connect with students who are at uni for the first time, and perhaps considering their place in the wider world for the first time. Exciting weeks ahead!
19.01.2022 Working from home this afternoon to try and get on top of the admin! Hopefully an update will land in your email inbox soon. If you've never received an email update from me before and would like to join my mailing list, please send your address through via private message and I'll add you to the database!
19.01.2022 Our new committee has just been elected! Very excited for the team that's coming in and for a great year ahead. Please pray for a team that will work well together, and lead ES in God-honouring ways and directions.
17.01.2022 So excited to be on campus today, setting the pattern for my time for the rest of the semester! Back-to-back catch-ups with our female leaders until TNT tonight, where we'll be workshopping on discipleship. A full start to the year!
16.01.2022 Winter = sickness! The last three weeks have been very messy as various members of my family have fallen victim to the lurgy, and as a result I've been really hit-and-miss on campus. But amazing things are still going on as we gear up towards Jesus Week, our major evangelistic event for the year, and happening in less than two weeks. So while everyone else is getting trained up in evangelism, I'm getting cuddles on the couch from a usually not-very-cuddly little boy.
13.01.2022 I've just sent out my first newsletter for the year! If you would like to receive it and you haven't, please flick your email address thorough via pm and I'll add you to the contact list.
12.01.2022 Swotvac for the students = extended meeting for staff! TNT for semester 2 is mostly nutted out, and I'm once again reminded of how much I love my job -- I get to soak up the Bible and teach students about the God who loves them. Win!!
11.01.2022 This is happening tomorrow! Please pray for us around lunchtime, as we seek to answer some big questions and hand out heaps of hot cross buns!
11.01.2022 Back to work this week after a semester off for maternity leave. Looking forward to getting back into it!
09.01.2022 Was so encouraged by a really great conversation with three guys in the Tavern today -- turns out they weren't really interested in the hot cross buns but wanted their questions answered. We talked about how to be forgiven and the place of the church in the life of a Christian. Was wonderful to know that they'd been talking this stuff through, reached out and asked the questions, and hopefully will keep nutting out the answers. Was amazing to be part of!
09.01.2022 Week 2 of Resolve and tonight we are Engaging (Respectfully listening to someone coming from a different perspective). Mohammed Salim Kalaniya is a local man and the father of the president of the Flinders Uni Muslim Association. He will be speaking on 'Living as a Muslim in Australia' & 'What every Christian should know about my faith,' with opportunities for Q & A. This is such a fantastic opportunity to hear and understand a different view!
08.01.2022 Last week of Resolve tonight and we are Engaging! We have John and Magda Ackad from MECO (Middle East Christian Outreach) running some workshops with us, and Lesley Inauen (who works with local Iranian immigrants sharing Jesus and discipling Muslim converts to Christianity), is bringing an Iranian friend who'll be sharing what life is like for her now that she is a Christian. Super exciting stuff! Also, Ramadan begins this week, so please be praying for opportunities to engage with Muslim students as they celebrate. It does mean though that we don't have access to Oasis for TNT, the religious space on campus we usually use. Please pray that our temporary spaces suit our needs and are easy for students (and staff) to find!
08.01.2022 And I'm back! Lots of admin today and paving the way for catch-ups for the rest of the semester. So many new ones wandering the campus today! Please pray that we can make meaningful connections with those who need it most.
07.01.2022 With all the uncertainty around, I'm working from home today (apparently the uni is almost a ghost town)! Please pray for us as we meet electronically in order to best work through how we move forward.
07.01.2022 This week is the last of the term (I know, right?!) and tonight TNT is focused on international mission. We have a speaker coming in from Compassion Australia. I really enjoy these nights for the opportunity to learn more of what God is doing in His world, and how we can be involved, in both big and small ways!
07.01.2022 Tonight at TNT we're praying for Jesus Week! Jesus Week is on next week and is our main event for the year -- our highened time of evangelism on campus. We have 3 students giving public evangelistic talks at lunchtime each day, plus an interactive Jesus Week zone that will visit different areas on campus, and students roaming around doing event promotions and walk-up evangelism. We're super excited and praying for great student engagement!
06.01.2022 A new Uni year begins! Spending quality time at my desk today, writing my first email update for the year, before classes and the regular ES program kicks off next week. Check your inboxes soon!
06.01.2022 In the swing of things, meeting with students, thinking worship music, and preparing a workshop on leading prayer. It's nice to be here in the thick of it!
05.01.2022 Another day, another hideous view! Having a wonderful time, chatting through life on campus and being inspired about future things.
05.01.2022 I've just hit send on my latest email update -- if you haven't received it and you'd like to, send through a private message and I'll add you to the contact list!
04.01.2022 Greetings from Stanwell Tops, NSW! I'm here this week for Senior Staff Conference and very excited to be here!
03.01.2022 My latest update has just been emailed out! Want to receive it, but didn't? Send me a private message and I'll add you to the subscriber's list!
03.01.2022 Tonight we start Resolve, an annual, 3-week Conference that discusses an issue that is facing Christians in the world today. This year we are looking at Gender and Sexuality and we begin with Build, where we hear from the Biblical worldview. Geoff Lin (AFES State Director) will be kicking that off. Please pray that we will treat the topic sensitively and helpfully!
03.01.2022 I've contributed to an App! Our students will be following a daily prayer calendar for the next few weeks as they ask God to prepare them in discipleship and evangelism. They'll be getting those prayer points (God-willing!) through the PrayerMate app. It's scary putting things out to the world for the scrutiny of all, but the prayer pointers I wrote are now out there for anyone to see. Please pray that they are not only theologically sound, but most importantly, that they help our students to be praying regularly for Flinders and for themselves, as they seek to be disciple-making disciples.
01.01.2022 First TNT for the year tonight! We're trying some new things with TNT this year, so we're completely unsure what kind of numbers we'll have, but it should be a good night regardless. Kicking off with a Bible talk about the sufficiency of the Scriptures, and then workshops on Apolgetics. Excited to get back into it!
