25.01.2022 Scott Morrison (ScoMo) Sussan Ley MP We need strong and enforced environmental laws to stop the extinction crisis! Listen to us....... #BeforeItsGone #PlushieProtest Australian Conservation Foundation

23.01.2022 This morning I'm at the Sustainable Community Festival and Spring Market at Albany Town Square! Come down and chat with me about getting involved with your local community groups, sustainable management of our environment and support regional crafters, food vendors, artists, and more!

22.01.2022 What a day! Beautiful Albany weather for the Sustainability Spring Festival. And I get to meet Ivanna, a train driver on the chip train from Down Road to Albany Port. We must get more freight on rail! Dump the Albany ring road and invest in rail. #ilovetrains

21.01.2022 I talk a lot about regeneration, but over the last two decades, our regional farmers have seen degeneration in the infrastructure used to transport their production. Last week the McGowan Labor Government announced a business case is to be prepared for Tier 3 grain lines, giving hope to farmers who have campaigned for 14 years for these lines to be restored. As a result of this announcement, I will be looking for a process that involves the farmers affected in order to priori...tise the lines to be restored, in order to best-reflect a list that satisfies the Wheatbelt Railway Retention Alliance. State and federal governments spend vast amounts on road infrastructure, while century-old rail networks that could perform much of the freight task, have been neglected. The southern wheatbelt region has the highest road toll in all of Australia and with intrastate regional road travel likely to reach the highest levels in history as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, there has never been a more important time to take action on road safety. If WA Labor is genuine about jobs and recovery as our state transitions through this pandemic, it will exercise its power to restore the state’s rail networks, beginning with the reclamation of Tier 3 lines from appalling neglect. Save Grain on Rail

21.01.2022 That feeling when you go for a walk and notice the flowers and native plants rather than the weeds. Spring has come to my home.

20.01.2022 After almost four years in government, WA Labor finally released its key climate policy yesterday. A policy that lacks ambition and the necessary environmental protections to address the climate crisis. The Western Australian Climate Policy is a continuation of the McGowan Government’s unwillingness to take action to protect the environment for future generations. There is nothing in the policy to grow and protect the state’s native forests for carbon sequestration. I’m sick... and tired of this Government paying lip service to its climate responsibilities. One page of the policy even refers to ‘Enhancing our climate resilience’ with a photo of beautiful WA native forest despite there being no mention of how protecting and growing such forests can contribute to such resilience. The McGowan Government’s climate change policy fails to address the intrinsic value of native forests to Western Australia, just as it has done in its failure to address the logging and destruction of our forests. Taking action on climate does not mean putting pretty photos on a climate policy document to greenwash your environmental record. With no vision for the future and no genuine attempt to address climate change, WA Labor’s lack of ambition is damaging our ability to tackle climate change. WA Forest Alliance

20.01.2022 It is no secret that soil biology and health is a passion of mine, which is why it was so good to see Australian Story take a comprehensive look at the emergence of regenerative agriculture last night. I would encourage people, farmers and non-farmers alike, to watch last night's feature on Dr Charles Massy. Dr Massy's book, 'Call of the Reed Warbler', takes a ground-breaking approach to the way forward for the future of our food supply, our Australian landscape and our planet. It provides an example of a better normal for agriculture, one where we appreciate the value of our food, the value of the farmers and the value of our regional communities. Dr Massy's work is proof that it is not too late to regenerate the earth. We can make a difference.

18.01.2022 Bees are amazing. I love bees and I'm sure you do too, so show it off with my new I <3 Bees sticker! Just send me a message with your address and I'll mail one out to you! Fun bee facts Bees provide up to $1.4bn worth of 'pollination services' to WA's agriculture sector annually. Jarrah honey is worth 100x more per tonne than using jarrah for firewood - $30,000 per tonne vs $300 per tonne... WA's bee keeping industry employs 3x more people than native forestry, with 1500 full time jobs across 160 registered commercial bee keepers There are over 1,500 species of native Australian bees that come in a variety of colours Protect our native forests, protect the bees

16.01.2022 Go the nannas! These women are an inspiration but it shouldn’t take a group of grandmothers protesting in the forest for the government to start taking the protection of our native forests seriously. Mr McGowan, Western Australians are tired of waiting for action. Protect our native forests now.

14.01.2022 If you have an interest in the Natural Rights of Nature, please have a look at this conference. I'll be in Parliament so have to miss out, but I an sure there will be plenty to learn. Around the world people are making advances on the protections for our planet. Have a look and book in if you can.

14.01.2022 Right now, we have the opportunity to not only tackle the COVID-19 economic crisis, but also the climate crisis. We can reduce our emissions while at the same time creating thousands of green jobs and rebooting our local manufacturing. We saw during #COVID19 that we can solve massive challenges and save lives when we listen to scientists and act together. So let's do that.

12.01.2022 Wow. An inequitable water-trading scheme, putting the environment at risk in a drying climate, with water rights based on an Act from 1914 and reliance on rainfall data going back to 1975. Don't damn the Donnelly.

11.01.2022 THE NANNAS ARE BACK! All power to the ‘Nannas for Native Forests’, currently blockading at Helms forest. These Nannas are calling for native forests to be immediately protected for water, for climate and for life, and are calling for a meeting in the forests with Forestry Minister Dave Kelly and Environment Minister Stephen Dawson. You can support WA Forest Alliance and these amazing grandmothers by taking action in support of them and contacting the Premier and Ministers dir...ectly: https://waforestalliance.good.do/fores.../forestsforclimate/ See more

10.01.2022 We are facing another summer of bushfires compounded by extreme weather conditions driven by climate change. WA needs to take strong action on climate change instead of propping up the very industries that are causing it. Please be safe this bushfire season. 05.01.2022 I spoke yesterday with ABC South West WA in support of the Nannas for Native Forests blockade at Helms forest. You can support WA Forest Alliance and these amazing grandmothers by taking action in support of them and contacting the Premier and Ministers directly: https://waforestalliance.good.do/fores.../forestsforclimate/

04.01.2022 In my role, I have the privilege to meet some pretty inspirational people. Some of the most inspirational people I meet are young people across the south west who are excelling and deserve recognition. Today, I was able to help give year 11 student Rohan from Cape Naturaliste College a little recognition by presenting them with the Diane Evers Award.

03.01.2022 After almost four years in government, WA Labor has finally released its key climate policy. It does nothing to tackle climate change - in fact it actively undermines global efforts to cut emissions by allowing our state’s carbon pollution to keep rising. Without addressing the drastically rising emissions from the LNG industry, without legislated interim emissions reduction targets and renewable energy targets, and without a carbon budget, this policy provides no real strate...gy on how this government will effectively reduce emissions. Instead, WA Labor has created a policy that allows their major fossil fuel donors to keep polluting. We are in a climate crisis. Scientists are telling us this is a critical decade. We have to halve pollution by 2030 and get to zero emissions as fast as possible or face the catastrophic consequences of irreversible global heating. As we head into what is predicted to be one of WA’s worst bushfire seasons on record, we need more than just aspirational targets from the Premier - we need action. The Greens have a plan to completely transition away from fossil fuels, to develop a large scale renewable energy industry, to ban political donations from fossil fuel companies and to create thousands of clean, green jobs. We want to propel our state into the future, but we need more Greens voices in WA Parliament to do it. We can’t do it without you - will you join our grassroots movement? www.greens.org.au/volunteer

03.01.2022 Congratulations, Craig! Absolutely fabulous that you and Just Home Margaret River received this award. I am very proud to be a supporter and I hope we can replicate your success across the region. Well done to all of you!

01.01.2022 If you would like to understand a bit about economics, try this free snappy, engaging video series alongside fortnightly webinars. My first question on allocation of resources - So, if a government wants to allocate resources based on the number of votes or donations they will get ..... (call me a cynic) - the first video is only ten minutes - How will you allocate your time?
