22.01.2022 When it comes to prevention and early detection, men's health often takes a back seat to women's health. Research, however, shows that, compared to women, men are more likely to lead less healthy lifestyles. In addition, men are more likely to put off routine checkups and also delay seeing a healthcare provider for symptoms of a health problem. Compared to working-aged women, working-aged men are less likely to have a regular doctor and health insurance. Fortunately, many of the health conditions and diseases that men face can be prevented or treated - if found early. In order to start taking better care of their health, it is important for men to understand their risk factors and how they can improve their overall health. Be sure to talk to your doctor!. 18.01.2022 Today being the Developmental Language Disorder (DLA) Awareness Day, it is time we spread awareness about this concealed but common lifelong condition. DLD causes complications with speaking and understanding for no known reason. There are serious and long-term impacts, as it puts children at greater risk of failing at school and struggling with mental health and future employment. The biggest challenge with DLD is you can’t tell by looking at a person that they have DLD and therefore, they often get overlooked for support. People with DLD can be as different as you and I. However, it is important to know that with the right supports, they can flourish! Increased awareness of DLD can reduce social stigmatisation and improve access to specialist and support services. 12.01.2022 Due to Perth going in to a 5 day lock down, we will have to amend our appointments for our patients. The majority will now be conducted via telephone, and only if deemed necessary by the Doctor, will patients be allowed in the clinic. We will BE LIMITING THE NUMBER OF PATIENTS IN THE CLINIC AT ONE TIME. Anyone entering the clinic MUST BE WEARING THEIR OWN MASK. We are making these changes with our patients and our staff's health in mind.... Please be respectful of these changes. See more

10.01.2022 This year’s World Mental Health Day, on 10 October, comes at a time when our daily lives have changed considerably as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The past months have brought many challenges: for health-care workers, providing care in difficult circumstances, going to work fearful of bringing COVID-19 home with them; for students, adapting to taking classes from home, with little contact with teachers and friends, and anxious about their futures; for workers whose live...lihoods are threatened; for the vast number of people caught in poverty or in fragile humanitarian settings with extremely limited protection from COVID-19; and for people with mental health conditions, many experiencing even greater social isolation than before. And this is to say nothing of managing the grief of losing a loved one, sometimes without being able to say goodbye. See more

08.01.2022 Perinatal Anxiety and Depression Awareness Week is an opportunity to raise awareness about perinatal mental health issues within the community. Up to one in five expecting or new mothers and one in ten expecting or new fathers will experience perinatal anxiety or depression. Many expecting and new parents are blind-sided by realities of becoming parents and looking back, wish they had known more or been better able to prepare for some of the challenges they might have and be...en better able to cope. Perinatal anxiety and depression is a common mental illness but may go unnoticed with symptoms often dismissed as normal parts of pregnancy or early parenthood. Many people don’t seek help as quickly as they should and suffer for longer than necessary because they don’t know what’s happening to them and don’t know where to go to seek help. 08.01.2022 Australia’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month, offers us an opportunity to focus on breast cancer and its impact on those affected by the disease in our community. Breast cancer remains the most common cancer among Australian women (excluding non-melanoma skin cancer). Approximately 17,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer every year in Australia. Survival rates continue to progress in Australia with 89 out of every 100 women diagnosed with invasive breast cancer now surviving five or more years beyond diagnosis. When breast cancer is detected early, women have a much greater chance of being treated successfully and for most women the cancer will not come back after treatment
