25.01.2022 5 Tips to offer from my perspective and area of expertise on the power of your voice 1. Shift your focus from what you don’t have to and what we have been told... we can’t have/do which creates a feeling of lack to remembering what is not cancelled important things like reading, writing, going outdoors in the fresh air, sharing with family, singing, laughing, taking care of you, having chats on the phone and hope is all available. Let’s embrace that, not simply by doing but by talking about it, using your voice as a voice of reason. 2. If you are in isolation. Spend time using your voice to create videos and lives. And make them lively it is livebring it to life with emphasis, facial expression and movement. Make it fun, joyous an adventure. 3. When you speak include your message of how you are living in peace, calm, hope and grace. How to be aware but not overwhelmed and not get swept up in the current hysteria. Be gracious, share and support others whether you are at home or in the grocery store. 4. Self-care look after your mind and your body. Get plenty of fresh air Vitamin D boosts your immune system and is great for mental health, stay hydrated, eat lots of healthy foods and take supplements to boost your immune system. Wash your hands regularly. Meditate, pray, journal. Play uplifting and happy music and make your home, workplace, patio extra pleasant, somewhere you love to be. Use the’ hand Mundra’. With one hand use your thumb to hold in your 2nd and 3RD fingers and have your index and pinky facing towards your eyes. In American sign language, it means ‘I love you’. Saying the words out loud demonstrates infinite love and gratitude and helps raise your awareness and consciousness. 5. It is Ok to use the word ‘NO ‘no thank you, I am not doing people right now’. In place of hugs and handshakes use your voice and your eyes to convey your connection. A smile is a great way to start that improves your voice tonality immediately. Saying no, firmly but politely is about setting healthy boundaries that serve you right now today. See more

24.01.2022 Reaching out is a big wonderful step forward when facing a challenge or a crisis. Our natural instinct is to withdraw and isolate from fear, shame or guilt and... inside your head your thoughts whirl and whirl thicker and faster and left alone they can confuse or even paralyse your thoughts and your ability to live life fully and make prudent decisions. Reaching and talking to someone you trust is a huge relief, it gets those thoughts out of your head and the act of speaking opens a window for you to think more clearly and see that you have options and beating yourself up is NOT one of them. Reaching out is an act of self-love, you are doing it for you. Remember it is child abuse prevention month, abuse at any level knows no boundaries, it is not gender specific and it thrives on silence and secrecy. #reachingout #yourvoicematters.

23.01.2022 I think you all know I have just 'moved physically' and 'moved a lot of stuff out of my life'. These 3 questions may help you if you are having a de-cluttering January

22.01.2022 This morning was an amazing morning with amazing women at BPW in Caboolture where Police Commissioner Katarina Carroll was the guest speaker. The Commissioner ...has so many accomplishments, achieved so much and works for the betterment of women. A strong accomplished woman using her voice for the best. Thank you, Deborah Fay and Trish Springsteen for inviting me. Amazingly it was BPW (Business and Professional Women) that got me into Toastmasters. In the mid 1970's when I was in the Mackay BPW club, Mackay Toastmasters was being formed. This was an interesting time, women had only been allowed as members for a few years ( although formed in 1924 it was 1973 when women were allowed in). Toastmasters asked if one of our members would like to join. That is enterprising they sent letters to all service clubs (I know this one isn't a service club but we got one anyway). I was sponsored in for a year and the rest is history. 42 years later I am still there... thank you BPW

12.01.2022 Last Saturday 'Speak Out' was launched at the Redcliffe Library. Author Di Riddell welcomed 70 guests and the event was MC'd by Trush Springsteen. The forward to this book was written by Julie cross and in her words 'what I love about this book is it is a wonderful combination of storytelling and action steps. For us to make real change and step up into our story and claim our voice we need to connect to the emotion of knowing we are worth it and then engage and upgrade our ...thinking - Di leads us through this beautifully. She also walks her talk by being courageous and vulnerable in sharing some of her most personal stories, and she does so with such grace and power. Turning her pain into power to empower others. This book is an elixir for all kinds of emotional ailments'. Creative Business consultant Denise Moser says 'This book the most fantastic set of resources for anyone - not only the suppressed. It is for anyone who wants to be fully self-expressed. I would strongly recommend anyone buying the book to also do Di's courses. Personally interacting with the author, albeit it on the internet, will enhance and speed up the process. You will feel as though you are part of a community, all on a great journey to speak out.' Di says 'Imagine that you were given a gift so powerful it could change your world and those around you. Your voice and what you can do with it is your gift. In fact, your voice is a mirror for self-awareness. if you would like a copy https://www.mjlpublications.com.au/product/speak-out/

12.01.2022 No one says they 'need' Toastmasters...however, they will say I am doing a presentation next week, I am speaking at my daughter's wedding, I am in a new training role at work, I get nervous introducing myself at a networking event, I have a great program but can't present my ideas with confidence...can you help me? Consider developing communication and leadership skills before you need them in an environment where results don't matter BEFORE those skills are needed. I have ta...ken those skills gained over 40 years out into my community and created presentations, bios, programs, chairing business meetings and being an MC to make my difference...
