23.01.2022 Business cards have come out well. Advertising for the car in the shape of magnets coming soon

20.01.2022 Based on the Sunshine Coast Queensland and covering down to the Northern suburbs of Brisbane. A different doula is run by Gary Cox RN. Parts of this area are lucky to be covered by wonderful Hospice at home organisations like Cittamani and Little Haven. However there are large areas not covered by such specialist services and rely on more general Nursing services to fill the gap. The Queensland health specialist Palliative Care service based in Caloundra provides Drs and Nur...se practitioners with Clinical Nurses who provide a home service but not regular visits and often the follow up us by phone because of the large area covered. My model of service aims to be the cherry on the top of existing services working alongside specialist services or the more general services including the persons GP if required. The role of Death doula is wide but with my extensive Oncology and Palliative care Nursing experience I can also provide Nursing advice as well including help with your medications and patient advocacy. Referrals can be made by the person them self or their family or any health professional involved with their care. This can be by telephone or email. The first visit is free and if, for example the only thing needed at that point is help with paperwork this would be charged at the start of the paperwork. There is a range of charges ranging from those for administrative type work up to very reasonable rates for private Nursing delivered by myself. The service is is basically Monday to Friday for referrals but of course will run at different times when Nursing Care is needed. With over 25 years of experience in this field one of the things that can happen is the carer gets exhausted and this, unfortunately can lead to late admission to Hospital with that person dying in ED. If that person isn’t under a twenty four hour service then help and reassurance isn’t often available . We can help at that time, although it is better for all to meet the person earlier in their journey. Death is seen as the natural end of someone’s life and life saving measures aren’t offered but all measures to maintain and improve comfort will be made.

16.01.2022 Support given to a client yesterday who was frustrated at how long services seem to take via the home care package they have.

08.01.2022 Good chat with Mark a funeral director at Gregson and Weight Noosa today. I built good relationships with them during my time managing the Sunshine Coast Community Hospice. The difference of Different Doula talked about and how we could help when they see people for funeral planning.
