Im sure he would be pleased, and humbled, to see how he continues to positively influence the imaginations and creativity of so many people. 20.01.2022 Gday guys and gals! We have Spoon! One of my lovely backers took up my AMTDA (Ask Me To Do Anything) challenge for this GoFundMe project! And Ive not let her or myself down! Ive found and rescued three spoons from a local Antique dealer, presented them to the lovely backer, and they chose the largest of the spoons as my new Spoon of Luck +1! (I think I will still take the other two with me!)... Again, my profound thanks to those who have helped me either financially, or by liking and sharing, or both! If you have a few dollars change, I promise I can turn them into fantastic photos from the heart of table top gaming! 18.01.2022 Whoa! Some great news!! I've sat down and redrafted the budget, and with the generosity of some of you with offers of transportation and accommodation, and a huge special price hopefully locked in for a return flight to LA, I've been able to reduce my goal from $5000 (USD$3600) to $3200 (USD$2300)!! And the current amount of support you lovely people have shown me, $1500, means that I am halfway there! Watch this space....... :)... Cheers, Heath. Its been a great couple of weeks for me, and the photos from Adrian and Jacquelines wedding in the Sunday Mail has been a blast. 11.01.2022 Gday guys & gals! Another week has flown by and its time for another update! The total now stands at $1265, thanks to 30 lovely people! Many more of you have been sharing the post for me which is greatly appreciated too! Over 450 shares! I have some exciting news! I have lodged my Passport renewal application! ... Thats one more step closer! Ive also had Ernie Gygax offer his house as accommodation for me (outside the convention weekend) and that will save a considerable total off of my budget! Ill be working on a revised budget and adjusting the total of this GoFundMe project within the next couple of days. This coming week is hopefully going to be good! 09.01.2022 Happy Australia Day! Continuing the countdown, this is for 6 weeks until Gary Con VIII, however it is technically just over 5 weeks as of today.... We decided to hold for a couple of days to coincide with Australia Day in honour of my fellow Aussies, both at home and abroad, as well as those of you who weve given the title of "Honourary Aussie" to! 08.01.2022 Gday from Down Under! Well its been a week since the last update, as I didnt want to spam you all too much, so its time for another! This GoFundMe has been shared over 360 times and you lovely people have graciously donated $770 towards getting me to Gary Con!... Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I have had a fun activity called Ask Me To Do Anything as an extra incentive for those who help with a few coins, and you have all responded positively to it. One person has actually given me quite the challenge! Her request is that I find a spoon here in Australia and it is to come with me to Gary Con as a Spoon of +1 Luck! In her own words: "Before you leave Australia, I want you to buy a new spoon. A nice spoon. And I want you to dub that spoon the Spoon of Luck (+1 luck). And I want you to take that spoon to the con and have it with you as a lucky spoon for every game and every time you roll a critical, you must hold your spoon aloft and declare the critical roll a Spoonerism! All hail the Mighty Spoon of Luck!" Hahaha! Simply fantastic, and I am only too happy to comply! My quest to find the spoon continues! If you would like to see me fulfill your fun (or funny) idea, all you have to do is pop a few dollars into this GoFundMe and Ill do the very best I can! The other thing to report is that I am in talks with the lovely team who run Gary Con, regarding a bit of VIP access and behind the scenes access. If I can get to Gary Con, it appears that I could also wear the title of Convention Photographer! This means I get to help them out and in turn I get access to take some more great photos! 02.01.2022 A Warning to the People of Lake Geneva, WI... Shut the borders. Call the State Troopers. Warn the populace. Stay indoors. In just over 4 weeks, you are going to be invaded by a crazy Aussie!! ME!!... Woo hoo!! High-fives for everyone! But, wait a minute there, the GoFundMe didnt meet its goal of $3200 yet... How are you going to make it? Well, good thing you asked. It was looking like it wasnt going to happen for this year. Up until about a week ago I was sure I wasnt going to make it, but didnt give up hope. But, I have had a supporter, who wishes to remain anonymous, offer me a loan of the difference. They realise how important this trip to Gary Con is, and believe in me and my photography that much that they are willing to loan me the shortfall!! I was floored! After long consideration, I have accepted their generous offer and have paid (in full) for my flight to Los Angeles!! There are still some things to sort out including domestic flights to Milwaukee and some accommodation details during the convention, but I am looking forward to seeing you all in person (or in spirit if you arent there!) The loan is to be paid back to this lovely person after I return to Australia and I have a few ideas to offset this. If you were considering contributing a few dollars, please still do! There is still my Ask Me To Do Anything task and Ill be able to incorporate unsuspecting victims... er, helpers at Gary Con to help me! If you budget is tight, then that is ok, no harm, but please feel free to share my GoFundMe on my behalf.
