04.01.2022 FROM THE DRAWERS AND CUPBOARDS 'THE BEST TINNED COPPER WIRE' HANGING CARD This card was found in a box of old tools from the El Arish home of Don Watt, the cane farming son of our original settlers, George and Amelia Watt. The new house on the cane farm was built in March 1956 when the house building was interrupted by Cyclone Agnes, and quite quickly resumed.... It is interesting that the card was especially made to conveniently hang on the fuse box. A quick search for information only revealed a similar and older looking card for sale in England for 4.95 with a 32.51 estimate for postage! Does anyone have any information or fuse wire stories for us? We think ours probably dates to the early 1970’s. See more

03.01.2022 Tickets on sale now!!!

03.01.2022 EL ARISH CELEBRATES 100! Hundreds of locals and visitors turned out for a commemorative service at the town's war memorial, to mark refurbishment of the cenot...aph and 100 years since El Arish's foundation. Servicemen returning from the horrors of war drew ballots for farms in the settlement and were faced with leeches, mosquitoes and impenetrable rainforest, which had to be cleared by hand in hot, humid conditions. A century on, many proud descendants of those early pioneers still live and farm sugarcane and cattle locally.

03.01.2022 ** THIS WEEKEND ** If you haven’t already bought your tickets - now is the time! Get in quick though, not many left
