22.01.2022 With thanks to Jim O'Rourke at O'Rourke Monuments our War Memorial is in place and the landscaping is scheduled to begin soon. We are enjoying watching the changes as our memorial develops, ready for the unveiling on August 9th, 2015. More information to follow soon.
19.01.2022 Thank you to all who have been stopping by to have a look at our monument in person or on Facebook. We now have the Rising Sun emblem attached to our monument and we appreciate the positive feedback that we have been receiving. The official opening is scheduled for Sunday August 9th at 2pm, all are welcome to attend. We will be having a full opening ceremony with a guest speakers and wreaths are to be laid. We have now reached the part where we would like to ask the public ...for their help. So far with a lot of generous help we have researched, confirmed and placed the following names on the memorial honouring the men and women connected with our township that served in World War 1. They were; C.Browning G.Carpenter J.Diamond T.Doran E.England F.G Fisher D.Jones A.Levings N.Magnussen R.D McLeod J.Townsing W.Williams H.Bowie (nurse) Those who died in service were; C.Anderson D.Clement L.Parish E.J.Tate R.Toop W.W.Walker We would like to invite as many descendants of the listed men and women as possible and do not have contact details for the majority. Do you believe that you know their families? If so could you please contact us via a private message with their names and addresses so that we could send them an invitation. 16.01.2022 Landscaping the area around the Diggers Rest War Memorial is currently underway thanks to the team at Abelia Landscaping. It looks great already, can't wait to see the finished product

08.01.2022 The Diggers Rest War Memorial official opening is to be held on Sunday August 9th at 2pm. As a part of our display we would like to give thanks to all of the men and women connected with Diggers Rest who have served or are currently serving in the Australian Armed Forces. Do you know someone who fits this description? With their permission we ask that you supply us with a photograph, name and brief description of their service ie; Royal Australian Air Force 1998-2007 that we could place on our display board. It would be best if we received an email with the details or an A4 document that you have made up. Please do not supply us with an original photograph, just in case it is damaged. 06.01.2022 With many thanks to some helpful people we have been able to send out a number of invitations to descendants of E.England and E.J. Tate. Does anyone have any connections to other descendants?
