25.01.2022 Mental Health Month in Australia is celebrated each year in the month of October and more specifically World Mental Health Day on the 10th of October. This month encourages all of us to think about our mental health and wellbeing, regardless of whether we may have a lived experience of mental illness or not. It also gives us the opportunity to understand the importance of good mental health in our everyday lives and encourages help seeking behaviours when needed. Every three ...years a new theme for Mental Health Month is developed by WayAhead - Mental Health Association NSW, the current theme is TUNE IN. Tuning In means being present, being aware of what’s happening within you, and in the world around you. Tune In to your senses what can you sense right now? What can you feel? Tune In to your communities what’s happening that you can be part of, or that you can help others be part of? Tune In to stigma how do attitudes and understandings of mental health and wellbeing impact people’s ability to live the lives they want? At Dig In we certainly strive to Tune In to the people and communities we serve and being aware of mental health stigma can help ensure that people who need support have safe places to talk about their experiences and reach out. Tune In to Mental Health Month and help create a world we can all Tune In to. #worldmentalhealthday #wellbeing #wmhd2020 #mentalhealthmatters #lookafteryourmentalhealth #inthistogether #mentalhealthmonth #tunein

15.01.2022 This past weekend was a very special and momentous service for Dig In, we celebrated our 3rd birthday!!! I don’t think any of us thought we would reach this incredible milestone and we would like to take the time now to express a huge THANK YOU to all of our amazing volunteers, without which we would not be able to do what we do every Saturday with such enthusiasm, kindness and love. 2020 has proven to be an extremely difficult and challenging year in more ways than one and ...we very much appreciate everyone’s commitment and support throughout the year. And ofcourse a huge shoutout must go to FareShare for donating quality food to us every week, we very much appreciate everyone you have done for us! EVERYONE IS WELCOME. 15.01.2022 COVID-19 has seen a significant increase in demand for meals across SEQ. In addition to our current service location, we are adding new locations. Large Eskies and tables will be needed to help transport and serve meals. If you have either a large Esky or collapsible table in useable condition and would like to donate it, please let us know via email [email protected] or send us a message on Facebook. Your help is greatly appreciated in this time of need.

15.01.2022 We are thrilled to finally announce something exciting that we have been working on. In alignment with Dig In's mission, we have been on the search for a second location to commence Saturday meal services in order to reach as many disadvantaged people access Brisbane. Having this second service location is a phenomenal step for Dig In as we now have the capacity and capability of serving in excess of 200+ additional people on a Saturday. The COVID-19 pandemic resulted in many... other charities and food organisations having to shut down, leaving a large portion of Brisbane’s population even more vulnerable than before. This location was visited by many International students who have been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. They rely on casual work to sustain themselves and there is unfortunately not much outside help available. We are hopeful that receiving some hot meals and seeing the friendly faces of our Dig In volunteers will be able to provide some relief and support during this particularly trying time. This is a huge progression for Dig In and it is 100% thanks to our wonderful volunteers. Without your continued help and commitment who are seen working tirelessly in the kitchen every Saturday, we would not be able to help those in need in our community. We will be at Bunyapa Park every Saturday (rain, hail or shine) at 4:30-5:00pm as well as our normal Kemp Place service at 5pm. Please help spread the word and we would love to see you come down and say 'hello'. @ Bunyapa Park

All the food was served with waters and the return of the beloved garlic bread plus the new recent staple addition to the Dig In menu, snack packs which are kindly donated by a wonderful volunteers friend. Meals were also provided to refugees who attend St James College. A huge shoutout must go to @fareshare_australia for donating all of the cooked meals. EVERYONE IS WELCOME.
