20.01.2022 It's worth checking out to see if your provider offers extra data, especially if you are using video chat more. Zoom, in particular, uses lots of data. Try using home WIFI or free WiFi whenever you can rather than phone data which can be can be chewed up very quickly!

12.01.2022 This is a very good project I have been working on... How can community workers, volunteers and peers better support people living with mental health conditions, outside of a funded NDIS package? Join MHCC for the second of three webinars to develop learning materials and support community connection for people with mental health conditions. The second webinar will provide an update on the trial of new learning materials and will continue the process of co-designing these res...ources. The learning materials will be used to support community workers, volunteers and peers who work with people with mental health conditions, outside of an NDIS funded package. 09.01.2022 +++ ONLINE AND REMOTE TUTORING NOW AVAILABLE +++ We live in challenging times. People with disabilities and mental health issues experience digital disadvantage and exclusion. As more of our activities - work, education and play - move online this digital gap will widen. The need to help the digitally disadvantaged to get online and navigate the online world is greater than ever. Digital Technology Education is committed to helping vulnerable and disadvantaged people get digi...tally connected and stay connected. As you can imagine, working remotely poses challenges for people who struggle with getting online (and staying online). However, there are strategies I can use to offer tutoring and support remotely. === PHONE AND EMAIL SUPPORT === A lot of support - such as helping people research and choose devices and plans - can be done by simply using the phone or email. For example, after discussing the client’s needs over the phone I can email my recommendations to them, or to their support worker or support coordinator. === SUPPORT WORKER AS CAMERA PERSON === For those with high support needs or those who have limited initial online access, we can start with a support worker using a video chat app such as Skype, Facetime, WhatsApp, Messenger etc. to act as a camera person so I can see what the client is doing. === SMARTPHONE-BASED VIDEO CHAT SUPPORT === Installing and using video chat apps on the smartphone is fairly easy to implement. More confident clients can be guided to use video chat on their phones and tablets and be their own camera person. === SCREEN SHARING === Zoom allows clients to share their phone, tablet or computer screen, which means I can see exactly what they are doing and instruct them remotely. I can demonstrate digital skills by sharing my screen as well. === REMOTE COMPUTER CONTROL === Zoom allows me to remotely take control of computers, so I can demonstrate digital skills on the client’s own computer. === PERSONALISED INSTRUCTIONAL VIDEOS === I can use screen recording software to record and send short, personalised demonstration videos. +++ BOOK YOUR FREE 15-MINUTE CONSULTATION NOW! +++ Go to https://calendly.com/seanfitz64/freechat to make a booking. === FEES === Online tutoring is $80/hour for NDIS participants. Digital Technology Education’s approach is person-centred, recovery-oriented and trauma-informed. Digital Technology Education is NDIS registered. If you have any questions about how I can offer remote tutoring and support for your client, please don’t hesitate to contact me on 0404 130 342 or at [email protected].
