21.01.2022 CALL TO ACTION: Deadline June 30th! The Medical Board of Australia (MBA) is seeking public feedback on plans to tighten regulations on medical practitioners who... provide complementary therapies and emerging treatments - placing patient choice at risk. If adopted, the MBA guidelines could see Integrative doctors unable to recommend vitamins, minerals, herbal supplements, natural therapies, diagnostic testing and other services not typically offered in 'conventional' medical care. By framing them as 'fringe', the move is also set to impact the registered health professions of chiropractic, osteopathy, Chinese medicine and acupuncture. We've made it easy for you to have your say. Click on the link below and let the MBA know why you value access to holistic healthcare and support doctors right to offer it. Together we succeeded in forcing government to re-examine policy on health fund rebates for natural therapies - LETS PROTECT RIGHT OF CHOICE HERE TOO! https://www.yourhealthyourchoice.com.au/mba-submissions/

21.01.2022 Fascinating new research suggests that eating a diet full of #fiber can actually support a more diverse gut #microbiome, even leading to a stronger response to ...immune therapy for the aggressive skin #cancer #melanoma! The researchers found that patients consuming a high-fiber diet were 5X more likely to respond to the anti-PD-1 #immunotherapy. This treatment that helps the #immune system classify cancer cells as dangerous and destroy them. This findings offer some exciting, early indications that diet could work in a collaborative way with immune therapy. We're waiting for more research centered here, it truly has the potential to create powerful change! Source: American Association for Cancer Research

16.01.2022 CALL TO ACTION: Your private health fund rebates can still be saved! Click the link, share your thoughts & we will email Minister Hunt, your State LNP Senators ...and (if applicable) your LNP Federal member on your behalf. . Last year thousands of you flooded Health Minister Greg Hunt MP with emails via our website link, asking him to save rebates. It almost worked: a compromise was about to be made but was quashed due to the LNP leadership spill. Lets do it again. . With the Government facing political annihilation, there is still a window for Minister Hunt to amend the Business Rules to allow insurers to offer rebates. He can do this without going through Parliament - it's up to him and it's that simple. . All you need to do is click on the link to have your say. Politicians consider 1 personalised message to be worth 100 votes so let them know your concerns. Ask your family and friends to do the same to allow democracy to change this ill-conceived policy. . ANY feedback, even just a sentence, will send a strong message to Minister Hunt and the Liberal Party of Australia and can make a very real difference. . https://www.yourhealthyourchoice.com.au/save-rebates/ See more

12.01.2022 New research, led by researchers at Stanford University and published in Nature, has discovered fascinating new findings that can add fuel in efforts to prevent... #diabetes. What happened in this study? Followed 106 for 4 years Volunteers' microbiomes were profiled every 3 months, from nasal swabs, stool samples, and blood. People would pay extra visits when they had a cold or flu, or were under extra stress (think career changes, weight gain, travel, etc.) Essentially, the researchers were looking out for times when the people could have been exposed to environmental elements that could affect their health. In this way, they could track how experiences impacted their immune systems and the composition of microbes in their bodies. With such a thorough investigation, what did they find out? For starters, there is no true "normal" when it comes to the microbiome. Everybodys healthy baseline is different, says Michael Synder, who led the study. Nevertheless, there are certain commonalities in the #microbiomes of people with certain disease states, including #insulin #resistance. What's this got to so with Diabetes? Well, diabetes often begins as insulin resistance, because people can experience lessened sensitivity to the effects of the #hormone and start having trouble breaking down sugar and other carbohydrates foods. This is particularly notable, given that insulin resistance can lead to pre-diabetes. What's more, 70% of people with pre-diabetes go on to develop type 2 diabetes! Furthermore, the researchers found that people with insulin resistance tend to have different #microbes, which can then impact immune cells, causing them to act in different ways compared to people who are more sensitive to insulin. So, when people who are insulin resistant or pre-diabetic get sick, their immune responses are often much weaker compared to those who are not. Ultimately, these findings have powerful applications, as the researchers conclude that they are actually able to "predict an insulin resistance signature from the microbiome!" Wow.
