25.01.2022 Hey everyone. There seems to be a bit of confusion regarding the restrictions and adult classes. I thought I would clear it up definitively. All businesses hav...e an Anzsic code. Ours is 82110 - martial arts training From DHHS Under our Anzsic code of 82110 (Martial arts classes) We are indoor physical recreation. 20 kids per class. 10 adults to a maximum of 20. You can run two classes of 10 but they must be separated by a physical barrier or an area of 5 metres of more and have staggered start times of 15 minutes. Covid marshals are required for adult classes. If you have a mixed class of teens and adults it’s still classed as 19 years plus (adults) Karate Victoria (the team) is indoor community sport and cannot have adult classes.

07.01.2022 Mr Premier This is my Karate School(photos supplied) - dojo ( a place of training, personal development and enlightenment ) it has been in existence since 19...75 . In that time I have had the pleasure of teaching 1000's of students Seniors , adults , teenagers , children and people with special needs . People come to the dojo for many various reasons self defence , confidence against bad dudes , the art and mystique of an asian art , however most come to better them selfs in some way , fitness , self defence , confidence , parents send their kids some as young as three years for exercise , coordination a structured discipline that martial arts has to offer. Many of the adults and teens come for an outlet at the end of the day , school , work , lots of mums come to release steam for a bit of mental sanity. All come to their space they call their happy place for enjoyment. All martial arts have a system of grading as you may know from beginner/white belt to accomplished/black belt and those that go beyond to consummate/black belt , onto masters and many to high performance athletes in their given martial arts like Judo , BJJ , Kickboxing , MMA , Tae Kwon Do , Aikido and of course my art Karate. Many of my colleagues who run martial arts schools have gone over and above to for fill all the regulations and rules you and government authorities placed on us , 4 square meters , sanitiser , 1.5 meters apart , 15 minutes between classes , no spectators and maximum 20 people - we were lucky as we had a front and rear entrance so we had our students enter from front door and leave by rear door , if you had of put in further restrictions we would have abided immediately to keep our business open and students happy. Today its been 23 weeks except those few days prior to end of term 3 , we could have implemented masks and anything else you had come up with , martial artist instructors are very innovative and creative souls , many of us have had to reinvent ourselves many times over to survive , recessions and just the down turn in business. Today I heard that you are not going to divulge your plan of action to get businesses up and running whether it be a martial arts school , gym , yoga school or dance school , so how are you going to give us light at the end of the tunnel ? All martial arts organisations like Karate Victoria , Australian Karate Federation and the above martial arts , gyms yoga , dance mentioned in this message have an organising association or federation which have great leaders who would I'am sure work with you to see that light for our industry at the end of that tunnel. Bruce Hyland
