21.01.2022 The Honorable Mark Furner picking up two commissioned pieces from our studio. The maroon piece was for our Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk . Due to the current virus restrictions Mark Furner did the honours and presented the piece to Annastacia on my behalf. The blue piece I made for Mark Furners wife .... Both pieces were made from the branches of the largest known Flame She Oak in Queensland Australia. The tree stands approximately 17 metres tall , has a girth of 2.8 meters one metre off the ground. The age is unknown as this tree does not have growth rings due to the dry arid conditions. It could grow anywhere between .5 of a mm to 5 mm per year, making it around 200 years old, if not older . Sadly the tree has a lot of die back in the crown with a large pipe in the middle.

16.01.2022 A spiral staircase ,Lednice castle,Czec Republic, carved from one a tree from y.1851, a library at Lednice castle. On wall hang a winged altar of ivory and rosew...ood with the pedigree of Jesus Christ. It's in the Lednice Chateau. The staircase does come from a single oak tree, tho not as a single piece of wood. It has no nails and was ordered by Alois II. It was created by the Viennese joinery firm of Karl Leister during the neo-Gothic reconstruction of the chateau in 1851. The carved details of the staircase have plant and animal motifs based on Burgundy and English late Gothic. The staircase connects the chateau library with the princely living rooms on the first floor.

13.01.2022 Hi Folks . Well it's a little surreal sleeping in this weekend. This would normally be a time when I would be up at 5am after a night of hardly any sleep with ...the 'have I done that' thoughts running through my head. I am missing the community we build during the Maleny Wood Expo which would be happening this weekend. The Picture below is one of my most cherished memories of the past few years. Seeing these kids fascinate and entertain the crowds was exciting for me .. What is yours? Please post a picture or relate an experience of your favourite moments of the past Expo's See more

06.01.2022 On the edge of a pine plantation in the Adelaide Hills, there exists a few remnants of the old world. It recalls a time when the Australian continent's habitat ...was still in a state of untouched beauty. While it is harder to find such trees today, red gums such as these offer a glimmer of hope. Eucalyptus camaldulensis at Wirra Wirra road, Adelaide Hills. See more
